New scripts
MetaLattice script
From: David Cox (visualride@mauimail.com)
Date: Thursday, February 19

This is a modified version of MetaPete. It's a multi-tiered lattice creator to aid in the creation of objects such as a head.
Possible future upgrades: Replace the initial iterations rollout with a "# of referenced lattices" rollout. I'm no programmer so if
you find a bug or a better implementation then please post it or e-mail me your ideas.

Motion Loader
Input data via MAXScript
From: Harry Denholm (ktx_int@ktx.com)
Date: Thursday, February 19

I've coded you a quick example: this script will load a motion file and apply it to a selected object. The motion file should be
created in the format :

[frame #] [x pos] [y pos] [zpos]
...

ie,

0 10 10 10
50 10 -40 10
100 0 70 0

It will work with as many lines of animation data as you like, and I included a little test motion file with it.
Hope it helps!

Terrain Material v2.0b2
by:  johnny@ywd.com
greatly simplifies the process of mapping terrain of all kinds.
There are controls to place different materials on your landscape depending on
the elevation, slope, and exposure of a rendered pixel. With these controls, you
can generate some cool landscapes using a few small textures. The limitation,
though, is that it still requires some fairly heavy
geometry to generate some natural effects.

New Tutorials
by: 2nd nature
Note: All the tutorials (apart from Number 7) assume MAX 1.2 is being used, and consequently all scene files are
saved in this version. When you obtain HyperMatter 1.1 for MAX 2, simply resave the files.

1. Dreadlocks Made Easy

Another example of Hair creation, this time a
ready-made scene file of a realistic dreadlocks
animation, creating in minutes what would
normally take days! To go to the tutorial, click
on the image.

2. Cartoon Collisions

Collisions are one of HyperMatter's strongest features;
you can collide soft objects at will, and they will always
deform correctly. This one is a classic of cartoon
violence, now in 3D!

3. Using the Follow Constraint

The Follow Constraint is one of HyperMatter's
most useful and powerful tools; using it you can
both control an objects motion through space,
and control integral parts of the object with total
realism. This tutorial shows you how to quickly
make a shoal of swimming Jellyfish. Click on the
image to get there.

4. HyperMatter / CStudio Tutorial

Here you can download a fantastic example of
HyperMatter in action, working in unison with Character
Studio, to produce stunningly realistic character
animation. Also included are notes by Frank Delise on
how he and Boris Ustaev used HyperMatter to transorm
an 'ordinary' Character Studio sequence into something
special. Click on the image below to go to the tutorial.

5. Hair Styling With HyperMatter

Many people have been asking if they can
create and animate hair using HyperMatter. The
simple answer is...YES! The AVI on the demo
page may have whetted your appetite, but
confused you as to how it might have been
created, so if you want to find out more, click on
the image below.

6. Extended Tutorials

In addition, there are three extended tutorials presented
here...these are extracted from the HyperMatter Release
1.0 User Guide, and show how multiple constraints can
be used to produce different effects.
The AVIs from these scenes can be downloaded from
the demos page http://www.2n.com/demosa.htm

1. Walking Sack
2. SkiJump Mouse
3. Cannonball Mouse

7. Spline Follow Tutorial

This simple tutorial is MAX2-only. It's a brief
introduction to the Spline Follow constraint, new
to HyperMatter 1.1, which allows you to control
parts of objects with splines, for amazing
flexibility and realism! Click on the image to go to
the tutorial.

In-depth of Surface Suite - Advanced texturing tools
Written by Nat Hunter / Lumens Studios

This in-depth explores a plugin from Sven Technologies called Surface Suite. The plug-in caters to one of the broadest and most underutilized areas of 3D, Textures. Anything without good textures will look computer generated. This effect is OK and easy...default textures. What Surface Suite tries to pull off is the opposite....realism and ease of use.

New posting FAQ's for Sculptor ProTools users.

Sculptor ProTools Users
We are closing on another release for Sculptor ProTools and we plan release
it for users in less than two weeks.

4D Paint Softimage Demo Users:
We never do see the "4DPaint +" menu item appear in the MATTER>TEXTURE menu pop-up.It is important that the two key files have the following case as
Soft is Case sensitive. 4DPaint.dll and 4DPaint.cus. are the correct cases.
4DPaint.dll must be copied into the drive:\soft3d_3.7\3d\custom\bin
location. 4DPaint.cus into the drive:\soft3d_3.7\3d\custom\matter location
