 Whats New ?

April 06

There are two versions of daVinci3D available for download.                             Version 0.75 which is relatively stable, and version 0.95
which still has some significant bugs (e.g., applying a deformation modifier like

Bend, Twist, etc. will crash MAX). In addition, there is no documentation for
version 0.95 yet.

Directly download daVinci3D beta (v0.75) [times out 4/30/98]

New Plugin
ATVista to the MAX2
Price USD 450
ATVista to the MAX2 is a fully integrated plug-in to 3D Studio MAX2 that allows the
user to record uncompressed video on frame accurate
video recorders such as Betacam SP machines, Sony UVW 1700GP, Digital-S and S-VHS
machines, using the Truevision ATVista 4M
video board. The tape recorder is fully controlled from inside 3D Studio MAX with
the included RS-422 serial interface adapter that connects
to a COM port.
ATVista to the MAX2 lets you record single frames and ranges of frames with optional
loops. The traditional frame-by-frame recording
method can be used, as well as a new technique called multi-pass recording, which
significally reduces recording time and head wear.
In 3D Studio MAX, the plug-in will also allow you to set up the ATVista board as an
output rendering device. This is perfect for a true color
preview of the rendered image on a video monitor. This part can be purchased
separately and is called ATVistaIO.
Accidentally rendered a lot of frames to even instead of odd fields??? Donīt worry,
now you can reverse the field order while recording! The
field copy feature can be applied to eliminate flicker on heads, tails, and single
frames.

New Script
MAX Script Extension Pack 1.1
From: Harry Denholm (ktx_int@ktx.com)
Date: Monday, April 06, 1998

Hello again,
This is the upgrade to the MXS Extension pack 1.0, posted in this forum. Please
check the original post here for information on version 1.0.
Version 1.1 brings: Lots of renderer access functions - modify and examine rendering settings without having to render.
Windows path access - check on variables such as computer name, user name,
windows path, etc.
Please read the MXSP11-New.WRI file before using - it documents the new functions.
All original 1.0 functions are documented in MXSP-Readme.WRI.
Comments, bugs, suggestions.. please post here.
Thanks, and enjoy..
Note: To install, just copy the DLX file from the ZIP into your /PLUGINS
directory. MAX Script will tell you (in the Listener) that the pack is loaded at
startup.

LogoWizard 1.0 script
From: Harry Denholm (ktx_int@ktx.com)
Date: Monday, April 06, 1998

This script is the Kinetix LogoWizard 1.0. We designed it as a MAX Script

demonstration script that could be used by anyone and
produce some fun results (and was demoed at the CGIX show in Amsterdam a few weeks  ago.. hello to anyone who came to that show!)
The premise is simple - Load the LogoWizard script, and it will load a sample file
(unfortunately there is no way at the moment to build
this on the fly, due to two bugs in MXS) and display a main menu. Follow the main
menu's guidance. It should be very easy to see what's
going on. Have fun with it! Make a flying logo or two!
You _must_ read the README.TXT file which shows you how to properly install it (as  it is not just one script file - there are lots of
support files and images). If you have any problems, email me at

harry.denholm@eur.autodesk.com.
There are also quite a few cool MXS programming tricks and hacks in here, and no, it
isn't encrypted. Feel free to roam around the code..

UVW Unwrap script
From: Harry Denholm (ktx_int@ktx.com)
Date: Monday, April 06, 1998

Just a little example script. A UVW unwrapper in MAX Script - creates a variable

size bitmap with the unwrapped object texture
coordinates displayed on it. Feel free to hack around and modify all you like...
