Capture The Flag
This game is based upon trust. But since we are all in the same guild here, we should not have any problems.
Equipment
1 regular ringmail tunic per player
1 regular wooden shield per player
1 regular weapon per player(which weapon is the player's free choice)
1 robe per player
1 dye tub/dyes per game
1 cloak per team
Additionally each team will be allowed to carry the following:
2 Greater Heal potions per player + an additional amount equal to half the number of team members of Greater Heals. (This way the player most likely to be attacked will have some extra help *smile*)
An amount equal to half the number of team members of explosion potions. At least 2 however. NO exploding potions in town games!
10 bandages per player. No more no less. This means you can not carry cloth with you *smile*
As for other potions, 4 of each should be sufficient. However, NO poison potions will be used! This is a friendly game after all and poison is not friendly.
Setup
Before the day rolls around, the tunic, shield, and weapon should all be attained and repaired.
The teams are divided up as evenly as possible (into as many teams as you wish). Each player wears a robe of his team's color, and carries one weapon of his choice. The teams are then taken to opposite edges of the battleground. Then the fun begins.
How to play
The goal and method to this game is simple: Kill the enemies and take the flag. Each player holding any flag must be wearing it (the cloaks sashes are the flags, and they should be dyed some easy to notice colour, like bright red). Therefore, one person can't carry more than one flag at a time. If one team has acquired 2 flags, they must be carried by 2 players. To win, steal all the flags from your opponents.
Rules
No leaving the battlefield (because that's cheap)
No res-killing (stay away from the healers, and don't attack anyone wearing a res robe)
No magery (because paralyzing someone whose going after your flag then leaving them is very cheap. In some games defensive magic might be allowed, but these are the standard rules)
No looting except for the flag (because that would ruin the fun for people trying to get back into the game. And they are your guildmates!).
Basically, everything you carry must be worn. If your armor breaks, then it simply sucks to be you, end of story. You will NOT be allowed to restock during the game. And you will not be allowed to carry an extra set of armor.
After death, seek up a healer and retrieve your items and get back into the game. Do NOT remove your res-robe until you are ready to fight again. Of course you may not interfere with the game in any way while in a res-robe. (This includes healing team members) As soon as you are ready you must remove it. (no following enemies around in the robe, just to remove and attack when they are down to 10 HP *grins*) Oh, get the attention of one of the observers (see Observers) so that they can heal you up to full health before you start playing again. You shouldn't waste any of your precious resources on that.
Possibly the most important rule of them all… if you are wearing a flag you may NEVER hide, no matter the circumstances. Other players may hide whenever they want to.
Don't go attacking observers either *smile*
No breach of these rules will be allowed. Since it is a contest between guildmembers, breaking the rules is a sign of disrespect to the guild and the members. There should be no need to cheat in a friendly game like this.
Violators will be dealt with very harshly. So play it fair!
Admission fee
Games are always more fun when there's something at stake (even if it's a lousy 100 gp). A small admission fee is paid by each member and the winning team gets all of the admission to split amongst themselves.
Observers
There should be at least as many observers as there are teams. The role of the observer is very important. They are to supervise the contest, making sure the rules are followed, healing (and ressing if they are able to) the players who die, guarding the corpses from third party players (if the situation demands it, loot the corpse and stay put until the member returns) and of course taking screenshots of the event *grins*. The observer's other tasks are to make sure that every participating member stops his/her fighting when a team has won and reporting back to the Council of whatever they deem worthy to be noted (If anyone broke a rule, bad behavior by a participating player or any third party, exceptional fighting from someone etc) It's up to the observer to decide what to report, except rulebreaking or bad behavior. Any such incident must be reported for further evaluation.
The observer is neutral, he/she will not heal any player (unless he/she is in a death robe) and in return the observer is strictly off-limits for any attack. To make sure this is the case, the observers should wear identical clothing dyed in an
easy-to-spot colour. Just a bright orange robe will do *smile*
Other issues
Should a player turn grey due to unfortunate events, and if there are strangers near, the contest should stop until the criminal flag is gone. Should the grey player be attacked by boring people out to destroy our fun I hope the other present guildmembers will find it in their hearts to help him/her in whatever way they can. Attacking the scoundrel and putting the fear of BAK in him would be a great way to start *grins*. Remember though, the grey member will not lose much if he is killed (unless he brought more items than allowed), so in some situations you do not have to interfere in any way that would turn you grey. Then just pray that he gets away, try to stop the attackers by blocking their path and if fatality should occur, loot the corpse fast.
Other reasons to stop the game would be if monsters spawn. Their presence should be removed and any damage dealt to players should be healed before starting the game once more. It would probably be best if the observers make sure that all teams are out of sight from one another when the game is restarted.
I think this should cover the most essential parts of the game. If you have any ideas you think would make it even more fun, contact any of the Council members.
A big thanks to NaturalOne for thinking up most of this. That's the true guild spirit *grins*
