Marcus and I met on an internet chat in the fall of 1996. We exchanged email and chatted intermittently until the winter of '97.  Then we decided something had to happen so in March I flew to Sweden to meet him. I stayed with him for three weeks and had a wonderful time.  There is not a whole lot to see in Northern Sweden in the winter, but I did get him to drive up to Finland (where there is even less to see).  Most of our time was spent getting to know eachother and trying to come up with ideas for dinner (their grocery stores are quite different from the ones I am used to).
I guess I made a good impression because I talked Marcus into coming and staying with me for the summer in Tennessee.
