When I visited Marcus again in Sweden from Sept 23 to Oct 5th, 1998, we finally went to see Stockholm.  After meeting at the airport, we set out to find our hostel. It turned out to be a small boat near Gamla Stan. The room was the size of a closet and, since there was no refrigerator, we had to keep our food in a bag hanging out the window. We visited an old-fashioned market at the zoo and saw some reindeer. I wanted to go to IKEA, but we never could catch the bus. We ate a lot of bread, cheese, and McDonalds, and I was even lucky enough to find a bagel!! There were a bunch of drunk Germans and Gothenburgers on our hall that kept flirting with eachother. I think Marcus got tired of me dragging him all over town searching for Swedish stuff to buy, but he was nice enough not to complain.  On one walk, we stumbled over a flea market in town where I bought a Raggedy Anne doll and an alarm clock from the USSR. I think that is all we did..sleep, walk, eat, shop, and walk some more. Stockholm is a beautiful city and I'd love to visit again, only next time I hope it is a little warmer.

After Stockholm, we flew North for a week. His parents had us over to their summer home for dinner one night. It is a charming old house - very Swedish. We had yummy baked apples. Marcus tried to take me out on the boat, but it ran out of oil and we had to put-put our way back home. In Luleå, we went to Gammelstad. It is a really cute old village with a cool Medieval church.
