The movie Trainspotting has many messages. The director Danny Boyle has
succeeded to bring up drug problems that are common among young people. The
characters in the film feel like that they don’t belong anywhere in the
society. They are Scottish and just like the Irishmen they see themselves as
colonised by the Englishmen and they have the same position as the black people
in USA. So that is why they use drugs, when they uses heroin they feel like they
belong to something, a family, their heroin friends.
Another thing that this movie shows is that young people with problems
don’t get much help to solve them. Renton’s rehabilitations program, which
he is offered is not solving his problems.
The film also shows that people in general accepts drugs more and more. For example when Diane doesn’t care if Renton take drugs or not, she seems to think that it’s cool and not dangerous at all. Aids is also something that people in general accepts drugs more and more. Aids are also something that you get a good look of in third movie, infection, Aids for example.
