Covered in Pink - Tape Tree Administered by : Paul Goracke (pgor@netcom.com) Almost a year in the making, here (finally) is the Pink Floyd Covers Project tape tree. Those of you who have been checking the Web site at http://weber.u.washington.edu/~goracke/pfcovers.html will notice that this tracklist doesn't quite match up. Sorry about that--for one reason or another those contributions did not come through (and I'm not about to reveal who those potential contributors were, or reasons why it didn't work out if known). This is the first (AFAIK) attempt to gather Pink Floyd songs, as covered by other bands, into one collection.Although not even achieving half of the reported covers, it's a large collection, both in number of tapes and diversity of styles and quality. As with Gerhard's Rarities tapes, the sound quality will vary from track to track, due to the diversity of sources. Some of these tunes have passed through unknown generations. But a good number come direct from CD. I have done everything I can to achieve the highest sound quality I can from the sources. I have made no artistic judgment on these tracks: some covers are terrible, some are quite good. But they're all included. Many thanks to the contributors (alphabetically): Remco Braak, Ken Brown, Martha Copeland, Scott Frank, Bruce Gordon, Gerhard den Hollander, Sohnosuke Imai, Michael Teige, Andre Terhorst, and Craig Young. (This is mostly going on memory, since my list got deleted--if you sent me a tape and I didn't mention you, let me know--I'm not trying to slight you.) (Even if you are listed, please drop me a line--I lost all your addresses in the crash.) Every side has blank space at the end, lasting anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes (i.e. the tapes were planned to run 40-43 minutes per side). I did this because I'd rather have blank tape than have to deal with cut songs because of variations in tape length. At the end of Tape V, I started putting on songs I was unsure of (I'd never seen the artist mentioned anywhere, it only had a snippet of Floyd, etc.) and there is still more blank space than usual at the end. Frankly, I'm tired of late nights of taping, and hope everyone will understand. Enough babbling... enjoy! Set list Tape I ------ A: No Man's Land - Peter Principle Dark Globe - R.E.M.
