safaricar accident
Word.
[Elin decided that I (Rick) should write about the accident because
I had the best view]
SAFARI!! Cool animals, and madd pictures! The killas, 8 of them (Matt
was riding in the cruiser) were huddled in a Toyota van straight rom Japan, along with
Pastor Sam and Isaac (our kobe-bryant clone driver - is that what it says Rick? I don't understand
it so I'm not sure I spelt it right /Elin) some lost in their own world
due to CD players and lack of sleep, the team was crossing their fingers for an
elephant or som other gargantuous animal. A couple baboons later, we were
trailing and losing sight of the cruiser in front of us.
Speeding up a bit, about 47-50 km/h, we realize how curvy the path up ahead was. (is,
whatever, I'm Chinese)
You know when a car loses control. You can feel it, inside & out. When
we first made that right turn, we started to fish tail, the back wheels were just sliding. We regain control,
but barely, and there was another curve!
On this left, remember, we're going 45-50... and start sliding again. This is when we realize we're in barney rubble.
Crucial bumpy, tires like ice, we had to stop! We barely
BARELY, regain control, but right then we jump off the line and start
to flip! 1 1/2 turns!
- Benjie flies out the windshield
- All windows shatter
- Doors get jammed
- Elin's glasses survived
- Grace slams against the window, and...

[That's the bomb. I should get Rick to write all the time.]
So there we are, the car on the side and we're laying in
peanuts, q-tips (I have no idea how to spell it so I go for the easiest
way), water (from the big green jug) and chilli sauce that looked like
blood all over us. Pretty amusing when you think about it but right
then we were just too shocked to laugh about that. Naturally. So we... oh
by the way, from later stories because right then I didn't know much of what was
going on, Benjie after he flew out the windshield and landed on his head
came back to the van and asked how everybody was doing (after flying out the
windshield!), and wanted to get back into the van because there could be
dangerous animals - a valid reason, mind you, I mean we're on a safari hoping to
see lions, elephants and stuff - but the rest of us kind of rather wanted to get
out of the van. So we managed to get out and eventually got Grace out too and
those who weren't badly wounded started looking after those who were. Glad we had
Val's first aid kit because the one from the base didn't have much stuff in it.
Benjie had cuts with pieces of glass in them in his legs, Emily (who
by the way was the only one wearing a seat belt) had hit her leg real hard and
was wondering if it was fractured, Michèle had a small cut on her right shoulder and Grace had a deep cut on her
right shoulder and her right collar bone was broken.
But the rest of us were fine. PRAISE GOD! (for real) We could all have
died, but God is so good and gracious.
