Strategy:

In the 1st action round, roll Lanfear’s dice, then play the Selene advantage on her. Rotate the Selene advantage to give her the Children of the Light allegiance. Next, use Into The Fight to help play Pedron Niall. You will have to reduce at least 1 Pattern, maybe 2 depending on what Lanfear rolls, however Pedron should be able to win you a Pattern back if you have him reinforce the Pattern challenge.

Using Niall’s effect text, make sure you draw your 3 cards per draw round instead of 2. If you see the Hero sitting back to recruit for a while, then go ahead and use Pedron to win the Pattern while Lanfear recruits, but do NOT let him get killed.

After a couple of rounds you should have enough other characters/troops out to move them into the Pattern and pull Pedron back. At that point, you are pretty much done using him in any challenges. He can’t participate with your Dark One characters/Troops due to the Children of the Light allegiance and he’s too important to the card drawing ability of this deck to risk him in challenges alone. He is still quite usefull for rolling Intrigue, which is needed for the events in this deck.

Besides Pedron’s effect text which will have you drawing an extra card per turn, there are plenty of other card drawing cards in this deck as well such as To The Victor, Future Returns, Invasions, Connections and Lucky Finds. So don’t worry, you’ll get through the majority of the cards in this deck by the end of the game. And while you’re drawing cards like crazy, you’ll be shutting down your opponents card drawing/playing ability by using cards like Rampage, Search and Destroy, War of Attrition, Sabotage and Knowledge is Power.

This deck also has its fair share of damage with Barthanes, Darkhound Packs, Draghkar, Gray Men, The Great Lord Comes, Overruns, Heroic Efforts and a slew of characters/troops who roll lots of Combat symbols (the easiest to roll damage with). Also, you have plenty of cards which will help you win the 11 challenges in this deck such as The Lord of Chaos, Linked, Momentum, The Pattern Decrees and Consumed By The Blight.

An important thing to keep in mind when you’re using this deck is patience is NOT a virtue here. If you pull a card that you can play, then play it as fast as you can. You’ll be drawing 3 or more (most likely more) cards per turn, so don’t let yourself get to the point where your hand is too full to draw and don’t be afraid to discard a card here and there in order to draw some more...this deck has plenty of options.
