If you want to:

·         Be a managing director for a company during a day

·         Be Columbus when he discover America

  •   Participate in a government which has to make
complicated decisions and at the same time manage
      to be re-elected

·         Be an actor in the global trade

·         Participate in solving global environmental problems

·         Be exposed of culture-shocks

·         Be member in a municipality board which has to cut
the budget by half

·         Decide about the future of the EU

·         Experience the fear of being infected by HIV

During our courses we can offer you the opportinuty to try some of the mentioned simulations but also:

  • Learn how to prepare and carry out  live simulations

  •  Learn through Global Context to designe simulations adapted to your demands, needs and wishes

lf you find the above interesting you can read more in the next column: "What is a life simulation?"

What is and why using life simulation?

A simulation is a pedagogical simplified "reality"

When you use simulations you let the participants go into a designed situation that self activate and make them understand how the world looks like. It’s the simulated situation, which teach the participants not the teacher/facilitator who is telling what’s right or wrong. It’s the structure of the simulation and participants drive to do their best according to their personalities, knowledge and experiences witch make the participants active. You can also say that a simulation is a pedagogical simplified “reality”.  You can see simulations as a different, fun, emotional an intellectual way to discover and learn about the word, both in local and global scale. Its important to point out that the participants are not simulating something but you  simulate situations

Simulations create strong feelings

The method create strong feelings, common experiences and help the participants to discover circumstances and structures which normally are hidden as for example the function of companies, the distribution of power, social conditions, important historical events, global conditions as environment, trade, economy etc. but this is not the limit of what simulations can offer you. There are simulations about almost all subjects

Debriefing is important

If you want a deeper learning effect it's important that debriefing follows every simulation. It's a way to help the participants to leave their functional roles and in a structural way and to connect the experiences from to the simulation to prevailing facts, theories and knowledge about the subject that has been simulated.

Facilitators have to participate in simulations

According to my experiences everybody who wants to be a facilitator/leader of simulations have to have their own experiences as participant in several simulations. You have to know how to prepare, carry out and to debrief simulations before you are able to take the responsibility of being leader of simulations in your classrooms and companies

Why using simulations?

By a Chinese saying you can express why simulations are such strong powerful tools:

I hear and I forget                                                              I see and I remember.                                                      I do and I understand

You can also use another expression to explain why simulations are very useful in all education:

If you want to see, first act!

This is what Global Context can offer you about simulations:

  • Courses about how to prepare, introduce, carry out and debrief simulations
  • Designing simulations adapted to requirements and demands of customer

The courses and the simulations can either be carried out/produced in Swedish, English or Spanish
