Frequently Asked Questions

Very nice art, can I buy it?
Unfortunately not. If demand is high, I will consider making reproductions that you can buy. I am all too fond of the originals to let them go - sorry.
Are you available for comissioned art?
Drop me an e-mail and let's hear what you have in mind. If I think it sounds interesting, I just might do it ;)
I would like to put a link to your site on my page!
You're welcome! Please direct yout links to either the frontpage (index.html), the art-page (art.html) or the appropriate html document for a specific piece. Please do not link directly to the images themselves. I would also appreciate an e-mail - it is always fun to know where my page is "promoted".
Can we trade links?
Well... unless your name happes to be Luis Royo, Michael Whelan or Hajime Sorayama - your link is already here, and I'd LOVE to be linked to from your site =). If you're not one of them, the thing is that I don't have a links section. Not yet anyway.
I would like to show your art on my page!
Please link to my page instead, see the question above for specifics. That way I'll be happy because I get credit where credit is due and you don't have to waste serverspace with images. If you don't feel that it is sufficient, please drop me a mail and let's talk about it.
Who are you?

What kind of equipment do you use?
I don't consider the equiment important as long as you know how to use it. If it's crap, its still crap even if its made with top of the line things. Having said that you can go and check out my rantings here.
Can you teach me how to draw?
Regretfully no - but I can give you some advice:
Draw something you feel passionate about. If it is manga, draw manga, if it is horses, draw horses etc. Don't listen to all those people who say "Well that's hard, you should start with X". The only thing that will accomplish if you're not fanatic about it is to loose your inspiration - tell them respectfully that they are full of shite. People have said exactly that to me on a couple of occations (for instance you should not start with organic modeling in 3D, that's too hard). I didn't listen and here I am. Do expect to put in loads of time into it, but if it is something you feel passionate about - it's a joy. My uncle lives by the words "If you want to, you can", and those are so very true.
Since you're here: sweep the internet for tutorials - they are all over the place, like the fantastic Manga tutorials at Solace. I didn't have this opportunity back in the dark ages, but you shouldn't need to spend huge piles of $$ in the beginning. After you feel that you would like to expand your knowledge some more I can recommend books like the ones from Walter Foster, the How to Draw and Paint series. When you want to mess around with colors, the book Color - And how to use it has been unvaluable to me.
And finally: if possible, use references. If you want to draw scantly clad ladies - buy a copy of Playboy, if your thing is aircrafts, go buy an aircraft magazine etc. Or use the 'net once again. Don't expect to be able to make great pictures straight from your head - not in the beginning.
Good luck!
