Device Driver Installation

Windows 98 Installation Procedure

1. Run "setup" to start Windows 98 installation, the following guideline is only for your reference to configure Windows 98

* Select "Typical" item in Setup Options menu
* Don't select any item in Analyzing Your Computer menu
* Select "Install the most common components" in Windows Components menu.

2. After Windows 98 installation complete, the system is ready to install Convector driver. Press [WINDOWS] key to pop up Start menu and select Run item.
Input "D:\setup\setup" and press [ENTER] key in Run dialog, where "D:" must
be set to CD-ROM drive letter. TheConvector driver setup wizard will guide you
through the whole installation process. Most of time, you just need to click
Next and OK button. The system will be restarted when installation is
complete.

3. Windows 98 will invoke configuration manager to reconfigure system
devices after restart. Click Next or Finish all the way while Windows 98
configuring Ethernet controller and click No when you are asked to restart
the computer. The system will return you Windows 98 Desktop screen when
all devices are configured properly. Press [ALT]+[F4] key to restart the
computer.

4. After restart, all devices should work properly. If you have internal 56K
modem module, Press [WINDOWS] key to pop up Start menu, expand Settings
item and click Control Panel. Double click Modems icon in Control Panel.
Click Other in Install New Modem dialog. Windows will search the existence
of Modem module. Click Change and then Have Disk if Windows recognize a
"Standard Modem". Input driver path "D:\9800drv\modem" in Install From Disk
dialog, and click OK. Wizard will show Modem information "56MRDI 56K Video
Ready Modem". Click OK and next. Wizard will copy some system files. You
need to place Windows 95 installation disc in CD-ROM drive and input the
setup path when you are asked to do so. Wizard starts copying files. Click
next and Other locations when Wizard recognize Wave Device Voice Modem.
Input driver path "D:\9800drv\modem" in Select Other Location dialog, and
click OK. You will be asked for location information later. After you fill
in all required information, the modem module can be accessed by any
communication application software.

Windows NT 4.0 Workstation Installation Procedure

1. Press <SPACE> bar after power on system to pop up the boot menu. Eject
CD-ROM tray and place Windows NT 4.0 installation disc on CD-ROM drive.
Select boot from CD-ROM drive option and press <ENTER> in boot menu.
BIOS will load Windows NT setup wizard from CD-ROM drive. Follow the
installation instruction of Windows NT setup to complete your installation
process. You are advised to select "Portable" in Setup Options, and select
"Do not connect this computer to a network at this time" in Windows NT
Workstation Setup dialog.

2. After Windows NT 4.0 installation complete, you can sign on to Windows NT
as an Administrator to install and configure Convector specific device drivers.

3. Now place Convector driver and utility CD disc in CD-ROM. Press [WINDOWS] key
to pop up Start menu and select Run item. Input "D:\setup" and press
[ENTER] key in Run dialog, where "D:" must be set to CD-ROM drive letter.
The Convector driver setup wizard will install 1394, CardWizard,
and PowerProfiler first. The setup will guide you through the installation
process. Be sure to check "No, I will restart my computer later" item when
you are asked to restart computer.

4. Setup will pop up Display Properties to configure display controller. Click
Display Type in Settings tab, click Change in Display Type dialog, and
click Have Disk in Change Display dialog. You will be asked for the driver
path in Install From Disk dialog. Input "c:\temp" and click OK. Click OK in
Change Display dialog if you see "NeoMagic MagicGraph 128ZV+/XD" in
Display box. Click Yes in Third-party Drivers dialog. Click OK in Installing
Driver dialog. Now close Display Type and Display Properties dialog after
everything done. Click No when you are asked to restart computer.

5. Setup will pop up Multimedia Properties to configure sound system. Click
Add in Devices tab, select "Unlisted or Updated Driver" in Add dialog and
click OK. You will be asked for the driver path in Install Driver dialog.
Input "c:\temp" and click OK. Select "OPL3-SA Sound System [English]" and
click OK in Add Unlisted or Updated Driver dialog. Click Don't Restart Now
in System Setting Change dialog and click OK in Multimedia Properties
dialog.

6. Setup will pop up Network Configuration wizard to configure networking.
Click Yes to continue. Click Next in Network Setup Wizard dialog, click
Select from list, and click Have Disk. You will be asked for the driver
path in Insert Disk dialog. Input "c:\temp" and click OK. Click OK if you
see "The RTL8139 Fast Ethernet Adapter". Now you can change network
configuration or just click Next for the following few steps. Setup will
copy some system files when you ahead to Windows NT setup dialog. Place
Windows NT installation disc in CD-ROM drive, input the setup path and click
Continue. Setup start copying files. Click Continue when Setup pop up Duplex
mode dialog. Now you need to configure your network in detail. Please follow
the installation instruction of Windows NT 4.0 to fill in all required data.
Click Finish at the end of setting. Restart computer after installation
complete.

7. You will be asked to configure display resolution and color palette after
restart. You are advised to set display to 1024x768 with 65536 colors.

8. If you have internal 56K modem module, Press [WINDOWS] key to pop up Start
menu, expand Settings item and click Control Panel. Double click Modems
icon in Control Panel. Click Other in Install New Modem dialog. Windows
will search the existence of Modem module. Click Change and then Have Disk
if Windows recognize a "Standard Modem". Input driver path
"d:\9800drv\modem" in Install From Disk dialog, and click OK. Wizard will
show Modem information "56MRDI 56K Video Ready Modem". Click OK and next.
You will be asked for location information. After you fill in all required
information, the modem module can be accessed by any communication
