It is December. It seems like it was only about two minutes since the millennium parties were a top issue on everyone´s agenda. Well, it is hard to sleep when the elephants are restless.


ANTONIO OCASIO:
Whisper Loudly

Antonio Ocasio is back with a new jam, this time off a major record label with proper distribution. His own Tribal Winds label have had severe problems with distribution so it has been impossible to get a hold of Antonio´s last two jams Inner Dance and Mamoshka in Europe, neither have I found his album Raices - Roots in any of the local record stores.

Whisper Loudly differs slightly from Antonio´s earlier jams, since it builds on a faster beat and a heavier b-line. The percussive groove is still intact, so are the ambient keyboard chords, but the jam is definitely more foot fodder aimed at peak hours than before - without loosing the spiritual feeling that always been a vital part of Antonio´s music.

Francois K has created a percussion mayhem with the Body and Soul Edit on the flip. Cool stuff.

With the excellent Whisper Loudly Antonio has taken his music a great deal further in his determined search for spirituality in music, without losing the energy that keps the dance floor jumping.

It has been a long time since we heard anything off the Spiritual Life Music label. The new Mateo & Matos´ cut proves that label still are in the game.

The Joe Claussell´s Sacred Rhythm Version of Idris Rises is groovy in that driving style that has become the hallmark of the house music scene in New York. Claussell merges different musical influences into a melting pot of rhythms and beats: a slew of Latin, a cup of Hispanic and a dash of disco, the outcome is an irresistible dance groove that could only surface in a city that have had The Loft as a source of inspiration.

Mr Day´s Curtis (Soul We´ll Always Miss) with funky guitar licks and huge b-line is top notch dance soul music. And a nod to the music of Curtis Mayfield

Pascal´s Looking For Your Smile is one of the best soul songs I have heard in years. Nothing short of stunning.

To Be Honest/Eau De Cologne/Force This
(Force Tracks Records 12")
ForceTracks have established itself as a reliable label when it comes to deep, minimalist and dubby house music. And the new release from the M.I.R combo is no exception. To Be Honest is long, dark and dubby as could be expected - peak hour music. Force This is built on intricate patterns of beats and rhythms, and carried on a huge b-line. Very good music.
