BOSSA TRES JAZZ presents SALOME DE BAHIA/BOB SINCLAIR
Outro Lugar
(Yellow Records)

Outro lugar means "Another Star" in English. Another Star is one of Stevie Wonders many dance floor oriented songs. This time it is given the Latin treatment by Salome De Bahaiaīs interpretation in Portuguese. Bob Sinclair from France has produced the set. Sinclair has added a fast house beat. The small setting of guitar, bass, piano and percussion is swinging on the beats into an electric samba house floor filler of top notch class. Good Music!

SIMON LEE & RAY GUPTA
Azteca
(Spectrum Records)

Simon Lee of Faze Action fame in collaboration with Ray Gupta. The result is a long percussive intro that goes on and on and on, when the mighty b-line hits the set is getting really funky. Azteca turns out to be a mixture of Jimi Hendrix sounding guitar by excellent guitar and bass player William Kingswood, deep dub reggae echo chambers, reverb and EQ, the counterpointing horn fills touches the edge of Afro funk. Azteca is like a melting pot of rhythms and phasing, plus that the timbales bridge works excellent in the mix.

BETH ORTHON
Central Reservation Spiritual Life/Ibadan Remix
(Heavenly Recording)

Joaquin "Joe" Claussell has added a strong house beat and beautiful percussion to the remix of title track on Beth Orthonīs new album Central Reservation. The house maestro of Body & Soul has created a tender Latino smoker and added a wall of Spanish guitars. In the remix Claussell has kept almost every breath of Bethīs vocals - "I could smell you on my fingers and taste you on my breath". Excellent piece of music, donīt sleep on this.

SAUDACAO AOS ORIXAS featuring VERA MARIA
Orixas
(Ibadan Records)

A Brazilian love affair and a bliss for sore souls. Made me start planning for a trip to Brazil in the close future. I really like when a song is inspiring that way. Vera Maria is singing like an angel - I only wish I knew what the song is about. The track is produced by Kerri Chandler and Jerome Sydenham. Very good music!

FAZE ACTION
Moving Cities
(Nuphonic Records)

Simon and Robin Leeīs debut album Plans & Design was an extraordinary musical journey which explored the grooves of classical disco music. They created massive string laden sounds and grooves that were built on Robin Leeīs cello, keyboards and bass playing. His brother Simon Lee, sampled the music, manipulated it in his sequencers and created the massive walls of groovy dance music. The fascinating thing about Plans & Design is that most of the tracks are played in the minor key.

The first single from their second album Moving Cities, was last years stirring Kariba. The irresistible, go for it all, groove on Kariba is not typical for the rest of the cuts on Moving Cities. Instead we get a couple of Afro-Brazilian dance tracks with jazzy flutes, strings and carneval pipes. All tracks are building on breaks and stomping house beats. The Lee brothers has made a second album with dance music for the discerning DJ.
