Here i'm with a ball in chained". 13 In the still of the night (1956) Five Satins Fred Parris wrote it and together with Al Denby, Jim Freeman, Ed Martin and on piano Jessie Murphy they made the most beatiful R&B ballad ever made.They made it in the basement of a New Haven church. King - John Lennon Written by King & Glick and pro- duced by Phil Spector both times and reached US No.4 1961 and No.20 1975 a wonderful ballad that was title song in the great movie of Stephen King "Stand by me". 26 Thorn in my side (1986) Eurythmics Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart wrote this magic song. Stewart made the production with a superb sax by Jimmy Zavala. Great 80's Disco.Has everything. "To run away from you. is all that i can do". 27 The Shape i'm in (1959) Johnny Restivo Fantastic Rock & Roll from a totally unknown rocker. Written by Lee Cathy and Otis Blackwell. Never reached US Top 40."I feel good, I fell bad, I feel happy, I feel sad, but i love you all over again". 28 Maggie May (1971) Rod Stewart Rod wrote this classic together with Martin Quittenton and produced it. About this young kid that fell in love with this older woman. It has all marks of a beatiful ballad. It made No.1 in both UK and US 1971. 29 Another Saturday night (1963) Sam Cooke Written by Sam Cooke about a a lonely guy in a strange town and a cat named Frankenstein. Beatiful voice and strong sax beat makes it so good. "Wish i had someone to call to". So here it is made No.10 in. the US 1963. 30 Do they know it'schristmas(1984) Band Aid Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure wrote and produced this record to help the people in Ethiopia and it build the road to Live Aid in 1985. They got the cream of brittish music artist to join in and made it to a wonderful AID song. No.1 everywhere. 31 The Wanderer (1961) Dion DiMucci Ernie Maresca wrote this for Dion and with his great voice this become a classic."Well i'm the type of guy" starts to tell the story of a casanova who likes to look around. So great, true history. 32 Summertime Blues (1958) Eddie Cochran No summer without this one Eddie wrote it together with Jerry Capehart and made it to No.8 in US. The classic line "I like to help you son but you're too young to vote".Real summer rock 'n' roll. 33 Imagine (1971) John Lennon "You may say i'm a dreamer, but i'm not the only one". Lennon's beatiful song about his dreams produced together with Phil Spector that reach No.3 in US and No.6 in UK. Beatiful ballad about people getting closer in a cold winter night with wonderful string ensemble in the back. 35 Tears of a clown (1967) Smokey Robinson & The Miracles Motown classic written by Smokey and Stevie Wonder reached both US & UK No.1 in 1970.Beatiful mix of motown and do-wop with a strong voice of Smokey Robinson. 36 Remember then (1962) The Earls Up-tempo Do-Wop reached US No.4 1963 was called "Remember when" when the group found it,they made some changes and recorded it with Larry "Chance" Figueiredo on lead vocal. Showaddywaddy made UK Top 10 in the 70's. 37 One of us (1995) Joan Osborne Written by Eric Bazilian from The Hooters and produced by Rick Chertoff and made world-wide hit with Joan Osborne beatiful voice. "What if god was one of us" Beatiful ballad.. 38 On the wings of a nightingale (1984) Everly Brothers Written by Paul McCartney and produced by Dave Edmunds made this a wonderful comeback single in perfect Everly harmony look for the album EB 84 and find some more Don and Phil 80's."Oh, I can feel somethng happening" 39 Help me Rhonda (1965) Beach Boys Brian Wilson wrote and produced this great pop melodi to be a US No.1 in 1965.Great mix of Do-Wop and Spector sound to be one of the last songs with Brian still in the band touring and making concerts after this he just wrote and produced Beach Boys."Well,Since you put me down". 40 In Joe's garage (1979) Frank Zappa Frank Zappa telling us the story of the life from the 50's up to the 70's in this great single from the late 70's.From the garage til the front barricades includes small pieces of many diffrent songstyles."Guess you only gets one chance in life to play a song that goes like...." 41 Burnin' (1997) Cue A ballad from a swedish TV-drama became a huge hit for swedish actor Niklas Hjulström under the name of Cue.A real heartbreakin' song... US No.1 & UK No.2 single in 1969 with Elvis written by MarkJames. Superb guitar pop rock. Every great song is included,"Anarchy in UK-God save the queen-Pretty vacant-E.M.I-Holidays in the sun",so fresh and so fantastic raw.Punk all over. 16 Led Zeppelin 4 (1971) Led Zeppelin Known as the four signs album.Produced by Jimmy Page.Includes classic rock like "Black dog & Rock and roll".And the tune "Stairway to heaven". "And if you listen very hard, The tune will come to you at last, When all are one and one is all, To be a rock and not to roll." 17 Sloppy seconds (1972) Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show So classic produced by Ron Haffkine and Shel Silverstein wrote every song. The raw freshness of Dr. Hook was all over the album with "The cover of Rolling Stone & Freakers ball & Carry me, Carrie & If i'd only come and gone" and the great "Last mornin' ".Forget the ballads that came later.Enjoy this. 18 Va ska man ta livet av sig för när man ändå inte får höra snacket efteråt. (1977) Classic swedish punk-rebel who sings about screwing ladies and drugs.Many of ABBA musicans played on the album. "Varning på stan-Vår tid 1977 & Jag skiter" makes it an genaration LP. 19 Billion dollar babies (1973) Alice Cooper Produced by Bob Ezrin, an album that showed the world that glam-rock is great music.Songs like "Hello hooray- Elected-No more mister nice guy & Billion dollar babies" made it really work show and music together."I got no friends 'cause they read the papers". 20 Moderna tider (1981) Gyllene Tider Swedish star Per Gessle before he became famous with Roxette he had a swedish band they made this classic pop-album.With songs like "Leva livet - När vi två blir en - Vänta på mej !". Wonderful pop-music. 21 Born to run (1975) Bruce Springsteen This album got it all, Rockers and Ballads, all that became Bruces land- marks."Thunder road" one of my favorite songs when he tell us "Well i got this guitar, and i learned how to make it talk". "Night-Backstreets-Born to run & Jungleland" makes it so classic.. 22 Sgt. Pepper (1967) Beatles classic album, first ever album with no singles on, all about the rise and fall of Sgt.Peppers lonely hearts club band with classic songs like "With a little help from my friends-Lucy in the sky with diamonds".Produced by George Martin. 23 King of america (1986) Elvis Costello Elvis at his best together with his band The Attractions and a big part of Elvis (Presley) backing group.Includes great version of "Don't let me be misunder- stood-Brilliant mistake-Lovable-The big light" and classic "American without tears". Buy CD and get Coward Brothers bonus. 24 Arrival (1976) Abba Pop masterpiece by Björn and Benny of Abba with "Dancing queen-Money, money,money-When i kissed the teacher -Knowing me, knowing you" and my favourite "Why did it have to be me" just enjoy it. Don't buy this new collections coming out now...buy Arrival.!! 25 Imagine (1971) John Lennon OOHH. Imagine so great so beatiful including "Jealous guy"-"Crippled inside"-"Oh yoko" and the song to Paul "How do you sleep" produced together with Yoko and Phil Spector. Wish they stayed together.. 26 ...And then he kissed me (1981) Rachel Sweet The little girl with this strong voice made a wonderful album produced by Rick Chertoff and Pete Solley.With "Party girl-Everlasting love-Shadows of the night" and the outstanding "Then he kissed me/Be my baby". So i whispered i love you, He said that he loved me too, And then he kissed me...Sigh. 27 Subtle as a flying mallet (1975) Dave Edmunds Back home in his Rockfield studio Dave made all the work in true Spector-spirit. Includes "Baby I love you-Born to be with you-Da Doo Ron Ron" and the first song together with Nick Lowe "She's my baby" what later become Rockpile. Let it rock. 28 Modern Lovers 'Live' (1977) Jonathan Richman&Modern Lovers The man who shows us how easy it's to make magic music.Produced by Matthew King Kaufman and Kenny Laguna. Includes magic nonsens hits like "I'm a little airplane-I'm a little dinosaur-Eguptian reggae" and the so classic "Ice Cream Man". 29 This day and age (1980) D.L. Byron One of the greatest pop album ever made, produced by Jimmy Iovine. Byron only did make one album and so good. With songs like "Listen to the heartbeat" - "Lorryanne" and the so classic "21st Century man".Please come back D.L....! 30 Mott The Hopple Live (1974) Mott The Hoople Ian Hunters rock voice made the sound of the Hoople. Live recorded in both US & UK. With "All the way from memphis" through "All the young dudes" to end with "Violence" the first song my mom really hated. "It's live and live only". 31 Willie and the Poorboys (1970) Creedence Clearwater Revival With this album John Fogerty tell us about a band "Down on the corner"who "It came out of the sky" and tell us the story of the "Fortunate son" and finally take us to "The Midnight Special".Real classic Rock 'n' Roll. 32 Pearl (1970) Janis Joplin Released after her death.Together with Full tilt boogie she made this great rocking album. With songs like "Move over-Cry baby-Me and Bobby McGee" and the demo classic "Mercedes Benz". When she finnaly found her band she faded away. 33 Reach out (1967) Four Tops A real Tamla Motown album with Levi Stubbs on lead produced by Brian Holland and Lamont Dozier.Including "Reach out-Walk away renee-7 rooms of gloom-If i were a carpenter-Standing in the shadow of love & Bernadette. So great that you get goose bumps all over. 34 From Elvis in Memphis (1969) Elvis Presley The King is Back, after a decade of movie music he came back with this album produced by Felton Jarvis & Chips Moman.Beginning with "Wearin' that loved on look" and ends with "In the ghetto". Superb.!! 35 Band on the run (1973) Paul McCartney & Wings McCartney's masterpiece recorded in Lagos,Nigeria september 73 together with Linda and Denny Laine.With "Jet" and "Band on the run". "Well the rain exploded with a mighty crash, as we fell into the sun". 36 John Lennon/Plastic OnoBand(1970) John Lennon John Lennons first real solo album was produced together with Phil Spector and included classic songs like "Mother-God -Working Class Hero".The whole LP shows how happy he is to be with Yoko. "I just believe in Yoko and me". 37 An innocent man (1983) Billy Joel "Some people hope for a miracle cure, Some people just accept the world as it is,But i'm not willing to lay down and die,Because i am an innocent man" All lyrics by Billy Joel and produced by Phil Ramone and including classics like "Uptown girl-Tell her about it-Leave a tender moment alone-The longest time" A mixture of ballads-Do wop-Uptempo beat songs.. 38 Scarecrow (1985) John Cougar Mellencamp "Rain on the scarecrow,Blood on the plow" lyrics that starts this beatiful LP and songs to follow are the classic "Small town-Lonely ol' night-R.O.C.K in the U.S.A".John produced this rock album together with Don Gehman and you find this lyrics in one song."We've got to start respectin' this world, Or it's gonna turn around and bite off our face." 39 Baccara (1977) Baccara Superb disco album produced by Rolf Soja and the two Maria's from Spain. Includes "Yes sir,I can boogie-Sorry, I'm a lady" and a wonderful version of Elvis classic "Can't help falling in love". Just listen and enjoy it,Wonderful Disco- Pop from the 70's. Boogie! 40 Kungarna av Broadway (1988) Eldkvarn Eldkvarn (Firemill) and Plura Jonsson made this wonderful album about there youth time in a small town great ballads and some up-tempo songs.Including "Kärlekens tunga-Småstadskväll-Nerför floden-Min brud". 41 Slayed ? (1972) Slade Starting with "How d'you ride" and ends with "Let the good times roll" and on the way passing "Gudbuy T'Jane & Mama weer all crazee now" keeps you rolling for 35 minutes,as it says on the album cover "Slade are Slade, and Slade are now".Produced by Chas Chandler. 42 The River (1980) Bruce Springsteen Bruces double album that really reached out to the big audience,nearly all songs where R&R songs like "Sherry darling- Cadillac ranch" and ballads "The river- I wanna marry you" in true Spector production. 43 Hi,we're The Miracles (1961) The Miracles Miracles first album including Smokey Robinson on lead vocal.One of Motowns first albums a beatiful mix beetween do-wop and what would become motown sound songs included "Shop around-Way over there.Your love"..Dance to it.... 44 The Blasters (1981) The Blasters Great american R&R band with legend Lee Allen on sax Phil Alvin vocals and his brother Dave on lead guitar and Dave writing almost every song.Includes "Marie,Marie-No other girl-American music-Border radio&So long, baby, goodbye". Produced by Blasters. 45 Pugh On the rocks (1973) Pugh Rogefeldt Swedish R&R with swedish versions of "Locomotion,Reelin' and Rockin', That's alright & Seems like a long time". Even one child song as R&R "Bä,Bä Vita Lamm".Partyrocker.!! Produced by Swedish famous Anders Burman. 46 If there was a way (1990) Dwight Yoakam When i thought great country was dead. He came and this his fourth album is so great.Titelsong and "It only hurts when i cry" is two outstanding country songs and "Since i started drinkin' again" makes life worth living. 47 I think, Therefore i am (1970) R. Dean Taylor Wonderful pop music from one of Motowns writers.Including his big hit "Indiana wants me" and "Gotta see jane" from 68.He produced it and play almost every instrument. 48 Bubbelrock is here to stay (1972) Jonathan King The excentric english producer Jonathan King made this album in 72."Rock around the clock" like waltz.Country style "Satisfaction" and mant more 50's and 60's hits in new version, if you find it, BUY IT. 49 Eddie and The Falcons (1974) Wizzard Roy Wood wrote and produced this album in true spirit of Spector sound. Songs included are "Eddy's rock& Brand new 88&You got me runnin'& This is the story of my life. . |
