About us then:

The team consists of the following members:

-Kenneth Bärlund,Lisa Lindborg & family and our four Greyhound bitches.

-Pixie

-Bella Coola ( called "Asta" )

-Svarta Björn ( called "Majja" )

-Anda ( called "Rutan" )

Our hometrack is Åkers Kanal Greyhoundpark some 35 km ( 21.7 miles ) north of Stockholm and we´re members of the oldest & biggest dogracing club in Sweden:

SHS ( Stockholms Hundkapplöpningssällskap )

"Pixie" beeing the grand old lady, enjoying her retirement thanx to a serious back condition that prevents her from ever racing again, although she just loves to "blow off some steam" every now and then playing with the rest of the pack. She also acts like a real cheerleader at the track, howling, barking ...although the real reason for her behavior is more profound than that:she also want´s to race....

"Asta" the second member of our team, came to us,beeing in desperate need for a new home, and quickly settled in with the others. Her acchievements on the tracks so far has brought her up to class 3 on shorttrack & class 2 on medium. But nevertheless her results still places her in the top class ( class 1 ) on both distances. She has great stamina and endurance and is also trained for long distance races ( s.c "Stayer races" 780m/2559ft. ).Having had a few serious incidents/accidents, when at one point it was "touch & go" for her,she has made a remarkable recovery and has now entered retirement and enjoy´s her remaining days stretched out on her own couch. If a dog, much like a cat has nine lives, she´s used up eight of them by now....talk about "fighting spirit".

"Majja" is the third team member.Litterarly beeing the "black sheep" of the team, time never stands still around her...it´s "the pedal to the metal" from early morning and way into the night. If she gets bored she´ll come up with one trick after another, wrecking havok on everything in her way just for the fun of it.With her bloodlines she´ll,much like the rest of the litter, put up one great race after another.

"Rutan" rounds up the team, beeing the much calmer sister to "Majja" ,more intrested in loafing around and enjoying life in very much the same way as Disney´s character "Goofy"...but with a clean, sharp hunting instinct and an ironlike will trigged at times by anything that moves...may prove to be just what might take her into the winners circle for many a times to come over the following years.

More about them dogs can be found by clicking on their names, either above or in the menu,...note that the links will take you to another site, complete with pedigree and racebooks, not only for our dogs but for a huge number of racedogs worldwide.

More about us humans then:

Beeing no strangers to dogs ( we´ve had a few,but no Grey´s ),we agreed on taking care of  "Pixie" in the first place and give her a stabile & loving home for her remaining years as a retired racedog.Needless to say,she stole our hearts in 0.1 seconds with her tremendeous personality....the fact that she was retired from racing didn´t seem to matter at that point.A more loveable dog had neither of us ever encountered before...

About almost a year later, "Asta" also kinda "fell" into our lives when a friend of ours told us that she knew about a Greyhound bitch in need of a new home. After only having seen her pedigree and gotten some more vital information about her,we decided to take care of her ( mind you,we hadn´t met her,nor seen a pic of her yet ) and we guess that "the soft spot" in our hearts was touched by her story.....When we first laid eyes on her,she was in a really bad condition..so thin that every bone was more or less visible under her fur......shy,scared and with the biggest & sadest deerlike eyes you´ve ever seen...she almost seemed to appologize for her own existence, thus at the same time, begging for understanding, respect and above all : love!

A few months later a litter were displayed on the racetrack, beeing barly 8 weeks old,two pups stole our hearts ( and destroyed a pair of sunglasses as well in the process ),so what else was there left to do but to buy them..*s* Transforming our lives totally into "all ahead flank" speed...

We´re not in this for the money, although the number of new dogs and people involved have risen dramatically since gambling & betting on dograces was legallized here in Sweden a few years ago,we´re in it for the fun of it...as long as any dog we own loves to run on the tracks,we´re gonna be around...But as soon as the dog shows a noticeable lack of intrest for racing ( regardless of reason thereof ),we´re not going to force it to continue just so that we can earn a few bucks more. The animal´s well beeing is and always will be our top priority.

The fun is in training, seeing the results on the tracks, meeting other people who share the same intrest, love and devotion to their dogs, makes this the number one hobby of them all....if them dog´s then presents results above and beyond your expectations...well,that´s another thing all together..after all: Greyhounds are known to be the worlds fastest "couchpotatoes"...*s*..( at least ours do their best to live up to that reputation...)
