Radcon #7 occludes free calcium and moisture in the treated matrix as part of an

ongoing reaction, This inhibits the carbonation cycle chemically, as the calcium ions are no longer available to participate in the reaction and physically , by the reduction of Carbon Dioxide diffusion into the concrete.

Radcon #7's pore-blocking capacity prevents the ingress and attack of airborne Pollutants such as acid rain and salt laden air. When water enters concrete and freezes, degradation occurs as the ice crystals expand inside the concrete. Radcon #7 treated concrete takes up some water in the first 2-3mm in order to create its hydrophobic barrier. The entrapped moisture is unable to form ice crystals and the water is  only able to escape as moisture vapor, thus eliminating Freeze / thaw degradation.

Water being drawn out of concrete may also bring calcium deposits to the surface-Radcon #7 treated concrete prevents water penetration below the 2-3mm level, whilst Excess calcium is being used up by Radcon #7 as part of its ongoing reaction. Therefore Surface efflorescence will not occur.
