ARBOGA - OUR HOME TOWN

Arboga is a small town in Sweden 160 km west of Stockholm. We are about 10.000 people in the town and in the whole community about 14.000 inhabitants.

When Arboga was "born" is covered in the darkness of history but it is known that Franciscaner munks settled here close to the small river in the 13th century. The settlement grow larger during the years as the trade with iron from the montain district increased. The iron was loaded onto small yachts and transported down the Arboga river through the lake Maelaren to Stockholm.

Swedens first parliament was assembled in Arboga in the year 1435.

Today the medievel town center is well preserved and very charming with it's old houses and gardens along the river, the 700 years old church, the old town hall and narrow cobblestone squares and streets.
