Shavuot- The holy day which complete the count of the OMER the period between Passover and Shavuot. Shavuot is the holy day when Moses got the Torah (Ten commandments)from G-D and the tradition is to have night watch at the synagogue, We pray all night. In Tripoli Its called "Chebyeech" or sleep over- of course you don't sleep. But Sonia like other women brings coffee, sugar, cookies and sweets to the synagogue.

The Torah is also compared to water, fresh water, so the North-African Jewish tradition is to pour water at each other, quite fun.

It is also traditional to eat dairy products and sweets as a symbol of our eternal homeland -

The land Of Milk and Honey.
