Pressreleasen från Pentax: Asahi Optical Co., Ltd. is proud to announce the introduction of three high-performance autofocus interchangeable lenses for use with the Pentax 645N medium-format autofocus SLR camera: SMC Pentax-FA 645 200mm f/4 [IF] SMC Pentax-FA 645 Zoom 80mm~160mm f/4.5 SMC Pentax-FA 645 Macro 120mm f/4 Incorporating a host of advanced, user-friendly features such as high-precision autofocus, multi-mode metering, on-film data recording and auto bracketing, the 645N became an immediate hit among professionals and advanced amateurs since it's introduction to the international market in February of 1998. The 645N has gained exceptional acclaim from the industry and trade press because of its technological excellence, winning three prestigious camera awards in Japan and in Europe. With the addition of these new lenses, the 645N now offers a selection of eight different lenses for autofocus operation, bringing greater versatility and increased photographic opportunities to 645N users around the world. In addition, 13 other 645-system manual-focus lenses are available to satisfy the demand for a wide range of applications. With a 200mm medium-telephoto range (equivalent to 133mm in the 35mm format), the SMC Pentax-FA 645 200mm f/4 [IF] produces an extra-sharp, high-contrast image with minimal chromatic and spherical aberrations, thanks to the incorporation of two anomalous low dispersion lens elements. Its ghostless coating effectively eliminates internal reflection to further enhance sharpness and contrast. The inner focus (IF) mechanism not only improves focusing speed both in autofocus and manual-focus operations, but also offers outstanding weight balance, as the overall length of the lens stays same during focus adjustments. Offering a two-times focal length range between 80mm and 160mm (equivalent to 53mm and 107mm in the 35mm format), the SMC Pentax-FA Zoom 80mm~160mm f/4.5 is a multi-purpose zoom lens that can be used in a wide range of applications. Its extra-low dispersion (ED) lens element and anomalous low dispersion lens element minimize disturbing aberrations to produce a sharp, high-contrast image, while the ghostless coating effectively reduces internal reflection. In addition, its flower-shaped lens hood effectively reduces the intrusion of undesired incident light to eliminate flare and ghost images. The helicoid focusing mechanism facilitates the use of an accessory attached to the front section of the lens (such as a polarizing filter) since it does not rotate during focusing. This flower-shaped lens hood also comes with a window, which allows the photographer to rotate attached accessories (such as a polarizing filter) effortlessly without removing the hood from the lens. The SMC Pentax-FA Macro 120mm f/4 is the first autofocus macro lens developed for use with the 645N. It offers a minimum focusing distance of 0.395 meters (1.3 feet) for a maximum magnification of life size (1X), while its 120mm medium-telephoto focal length (equivalent to 80mm in the 35mm format) makes it ideal for outdoor use. The combination of the floating mechanism, independently shifted diaphragm control mechanism and anomalous low dispersion lens element minimizes various aberrations caused by focus adjustment and produces a sharp, high-contrast image over the entire focus range from the minimum focusing distance to infinity. The built-in focus limiter allows the photographer to divide the focus range (into the macro range or the normal range) for speedy focus adjustment operation.
