S. Baldrick

Baldrick - first name unknown, though he has an inkling it could quite possibly be "Sod Off" - features as the lowest, most primitive form of man, if indeed he is a member of the human race.

Indifferent to smell and pungent self-maintained body odours, unaware of the basic rules of cleanliness and personal hygiene, unable to negotiate his singular brain cell around simplistic concepts, and content with consuming food that would make a dung beetle turn green, Baldrick's habits seem more finely attuned with animalistic attributes.

Despite his obvious repulsiveness, Baldrick is a loyal and devoted servant whether acting as a Dog's Body or a Private, though it is difficult to comprehend how someone lacking any skill at all could be able to be of much use to Black Adder. Still, he tries hard, and is rewarded with harsh criticism and physical abuse.

Quote:

No, the thing is: The way I see it, these days there's a war on, right? and, ages ago, there wasn't a war on, right? So, there must have been a moment when there not being a war on went away, right? and there being a war on came along. So, what I want to know is: How did we get from the one case of affairs to the other case of affairs?
