This spring, a group of 15 brave divers from our loval diving club travelled to Egypt for ten days of diving and sightseeing. We had a lovelly time, and I'll be trying to add some underwater photos to htis page later.
I've been diving for a couple of years, though not very much, and this was my first dives in tropical waters. (Swedish diving can something be only a couple pf degrees above freezing)
The first day of our journey was spent in Cairo checking out the pyramids and avoiding the traffic-to-the-death that goes on there. Other than that Egypt is very protective of their tourists, you'll even see armed guards and metal detectors at all hotels.
The pyramids where, of course, a wonderful sight. You really feel history touching you. But, you may also feel some of all the salesmen that are crowding the place. These are real scum, I wouldn't trust them for as long as I can throw one of their camels. (Which they'll try to charge you 40$ for even looking at) They can be quite a bit of fun though, if you're in the mood for a fight.
The diving took place in a small town, on the brink of the Red Sea, called Hurughada. It was a nice town, even if it's crowded with divingcentras and divers. We dove with Easy Divers, a center I can really recommend. Being both professional and good at their work.
We had five days of diving, which felt pretty good, and a wonderful time. It felt like diving in an aquarium, as I've never before seen so much wildlife under water. We also rented a UW videocamera for two days, and I'll try to add some pictures from that film to this page.
