Mattias von Wachenfeldt
was born in Stockholm in 1972. He studied the classical guitar with
Geir-Otto Nilsson and Sven Londestad at the Oslo College, Conservatory of
Music (OCÉM), from where he graduated in 1997. Mattias was awarded the
second prize at the prestigious Norwegian Guitar Competition 1995, with a
program which included three movements from Koshkin's the Prince's Toys
Suite.
In the late autumn of
1995 Mattias was awarded a scholarship to study with the internationally
known concertguitarist John Mills at the University of Wales, Cardiff
There he also met the composer George Rodosthenous and that was when their
collaboration began.
He has given recitals and
concerts all over Scandinavia and Great Britain, both as chamber musician
and as solo guitarist. He has also made recordings for Swedish radio and
television. "Guitar Music from the twentieth century" is Mattias
von Wachenfeldt's debute CD.
