Importance of right pressure of roller to
tire on magnetic trainer and program tips.

Diagrams by Polar Training Advisor program in XTrainer
Plus
Y for pulse on left side, cadence
and speed. right side Pulse = dark
blue, Cadence = red,
Speed = blue
You can see the difference on my
pulse when tightening the roller to the tire 1, 1 1/8 and 1 1/4 turn
The power is set at 180 watt and
I do 3 times 3 Km. and adjust the roller pressure between each route.
The difference between 1 and 1
1/4 turn on the knob means a difference on power of about 40 watt
when setting the computer to 180
watt. ( all according to pulse measure )
The best way to be able to trust
your magnetic trainer is to
-
Always have the tire well inflated
-
When the roller touches the tire twist
the adjustment knob ONE full turn.
-
Clean the tire and roller with a light
hand soap when the wheel starts to slip,
or when you should do standing,
low cadense, or high acceleration work.
-
Adjust the spokes, so that you have
a perfectly round wheel.
The Tacx Basic and Excel shows their
wattage +- 6 % according to a technician at tacx.nl
The programs I like the best
is ones like the following four :
5 x ( 7,0 km slope 0 ;
2,0 km slope 3, 1 km slope 9)
7 x ( 2,0 km slope 0 ;
2,0 km slope 3 ) + 2 km slope 0
3 x ( 5,0 km slope 0 ;
2,0 km slope 2 ; 1 km slope 4; 0,6 km slope 6;
0,4 km slope 8 )
15 x 5 km slope 0, +2, -1,
0, +2, -1, 0, +1, 0, +2, 0, -1,
0, +2, -1 ex. 53 x 17
Then I just use a suitable gear
to give the right pulse zone, and use that gear trough the whole
set.
You can see which cadenses I use
on my training weeks base 1 and base 2.
I try to use 90 - 105 on slope
