November 13th, 1997The one joy of being poorAh, the virtues of being poor, right? Wrong. There are no virtues of being poor, it just plain and simple blows goats. But, there is one aspect of it that's nice, in a sick and twisted kind of way. When you do get money, even if just enough to buy food for the weekend, it feels like such a fortune, and you're glad for the next week or so, just because you happened to be able to afford some potatoes, veggie sauce ingredients, and perhaps a sixpack of beer, for luxury. It's great. But I don't like not having any money, and I'll happily trade with any of you who's got a personal fortune of more than 75 cents at the moment. It's not as bad as it sounds, though, rent is paid, there's food in the house, and I'm getting money in a couple of weeks. It just sucks not to have any _now_ :). |
