My life Phase Genesis to Nirvana |
|
Life began on a cold winters day back in 1970. It was in late march and this story begins at Nacka hospital east of Stockholm. Since I don't remember that much of my first years in life (they say it was good), we'll make a leap forward in time to, let's say, 1980.I moved up to Hörnefors, just south of Umeå which is located in the northen part of Sweden. Lovely place with polar bears walking around on the streets. The kids up here has to bring a shut-gun with them to school just in case. I've heard the American kids does the same nowadays, but I never heard of polar-bears in New York City?
After graduation from Dragonskolan (the school) I moved back south to Stockholm again looking for a job. I was really lucky and got the first job I saw in the paper. The intervju was really a success. I managed to get there one hour earlier than the time we agreed upon over the phone. I was playing ping-pong when they rang so that's why I couldn't hear the correct time. The words "nine" or "ten" can sound alike when you're about to loose a game of ping-pong.
And here I am. At Ericsson hacking around in C/C++/Erlang/PLEX (you don't wanna know what this is...) and feeling kind of comfortable.
Major up-the-ladder-towards-nirvana events has until now been:
- Got myself a nice VIC-20 with 3.5Kb RAM (1985?)
- Discovered Internet 1991 (Usenet)
- Discovered WWW 1993 (thanks to Jeppe Stenmark)
- Discovered Emacs 1994
- Installed Linux 1995 (thanks to Jimmy Ljungberg)
- Couldn't install Windows 95 1995 (how obvious...)
- Discovered XEmacs 1995
- Sun SPARC IPX in the bedroom (hmm..I am straight. It's just located in the room) 1996
- Got myself a Pentium Pro 180MHz 1996
- Got myself a laptop 1996
- Built pilNet 1996
Nirvana hasn't been reached yet, but I'm working on it. I'm a hacker wannabe so if I get going implementing all the software projects I've got in my head, I might climb a bit further.
