| born 4389 Leidy Ave., 34th Ward, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania went to McGill University - Engineering WWI: joined McGill Battery (artillery) and went overseas - transferred to Royal Navy as a midshipman and served on HMS Mischief and HMS Trinidad (Capt. Farquar). was on Murmansk convoy, not sure which ship - finished war as a sub-lieutenant - returned to McGill, was member of McGill football 1919 championship team, never lost and opposition never got beyond the 30 yard line. Gramps played middle wing (non-tackle) which in those days also carried the ball on goal line plunges. - was asked to rejoin Royal Canadian Navy in 1939 as Lieutenant and eventually became a full Commander on discharge in 1945. Have a record of most of his appointments. - 1950, Montreal Gazette newspaper published 2 all-time all-star football teams (1900-1930, 1930-1950) Gramps was on former. - 1946 coached the Lakeshore Flyers junior football team. -was stock registrar with Sunlife Assurance Co. when he retired |
