Factions in Earth and Beyond

There are many factions in the game and the players can choose who they want to be their allies, neutral or enemies through the actions or missions of the players. Depending on how the faction values are the player will see different parts of the game, some areas might not be open and certain missions not available due to the current faction standings of the player.

The faction values that a player can have with different groups in the game range as follows and depend on the way you are affiliated, example is: if you have EarthCorp affiliation you can't get better than "neutral" with Bogeril because of your affiliation. Affiliation means what faction you belong to. You can loose the affiliation if you loose too much of your faction values with your affiliated faction. When you loose affiliation your values can drop significantly with your affiliation and some other faction values can also be affected.

Enemy: -15,000 to -2,001
Neutral: -2,000 to +1,999
Allied: +2,000 to +11,000 (+12000 for affiliated faction)

Enemy means that they will attack you on sight if the level difference is within a certain range. This means that too low monsters wont try attacking too high level players since it would only mean their own destruction.
Neutral means that they will attack only if attacked first. Attacking one might also trigger others to attack the player (the aggro spreads)
Allied means they wont attack until attacked first.

There are several ways to affect the factions you have:

Factions and how they are affected

This table shows how killing a certain faction affect other factions. Note that its not totally coherent with how it "should" have been in the game if you know the politics. Example: killing V'rix don't affect Kokura faction at all, and the V'rix is in a total war with them. If the faction awards was correct this and several others should have been awarded differently. You read the table like this: In the top row you find the faction of the ship you killed, then you go down that column and check the colors. Finally go out to the side column where you see the faction affected by the colors indicated. Red color means you will lower that faction by killing those ships. Green means your faction standings will rise and white means its not affected. Example: You are killing Sabine ships, now going down Sabine faction column and you see that you will lose Centuriata, Hyperia and Sabine faction doing this but you will also gain Collegia and V'rix faction.

Factions in Earth and Beyond

Here is a list and a short description of the different factions in Earth and Beyond.
Alliance
A mysterious and secret organization led by the enigmatic Nostradamus Smythe, the Alliance is dedicated to earning equality and freedom for the Psionics, by any means necessary. Strangely, many in the Alliance are afflicted by a new disease called Landauer Syndrome. Lead by Nostradamus Smythe they are working for freeing the Psionics which are being used as slave labour in the mines of Cygni 61 system.
Anseria
Death to InfinitiCorp! A militant phalanx of the Psionics, the Anseria wants to both free the Psionics and get revenge on the ones that done them wrong. They are more V'rix friendly than most other factions.
Bogeril
A loose collection of early settlers in the Alpha Centuari system. Bogeril are renowned for their ingenuity and tinkering abilities. The Bogeril wants to be left alone and is working towards the return of their leader Sam Bogeril. Sam Bogeril is dead, however he left a detailed manifest which details the complaints and motives he had to start the rebellion. There he also states his desire to return Alpha Centauri to the "old days".
Centuriata
In a clone culture obsessed with Perfection, the Centuriata appear to be more human than human. In battle, the Centuriata are brilliant pilots, and show impeccable honor and loyalty to friends and allies, while efficiently, ruthlessly and mercilessly dealing with enemies. They are the warriors of the Progen Republic and a race breed for one purpose, war. Former leader was Gratis Augustus Var which died rather early in the V'rix war, the current leader is Gatekeeper Memnon.
Collegia
Recruited from the fringes of Sabine society, the Collegia traders have one goal in mind: Progen Warriors using Progen Weapons. They have had enough of InfinitiCorp's galactic control, enough of Vinda's non-leadership, and enough of travesties like the Glenn Treaty, which gave the Terrans the richest weapons-grade resource in the known galaxy - 61 Cygni. The progen traders are engineers of war and they are the supply line and logistics behind the Centuriata, and therefor profiting from the wars that the Progen encounter. The are run by Theodoric Cassel which wants to restart the war in Cygni 61 system.
EarthCorps
Operating independently of the mega-corporations, the EarthCorps military expands and secures Terran interests through force of arms. With massive fleets and all the resources of the Terran military behind them, they are a force fit to rival any in human space. The EarthCorps wants stability to ensure the commerce in the galaxy. They are lead by Diego Herrera.
Freespacers
Nomadic and elusive, the Free Spacers have wandered the fringes of civilization since the early 22nd century. They reject the idea of racial differentiation, preferring to see themselves as free and unique individuals. Rumors persist of Free Spacers who have ventured far beyond the bounds of known space. The Freespacers come from a small group that left earth in the wake of the war of secession in 2160, trying to start a truly space-based culture they want to be solitary and not disturbed by others. The solo and detached lifestyle has a darker side however, among some families of Freespacers that been out on their own the longest time in space have appeared a more feral cult, that trade in human organs and prey upon other ships. These are the Bioharvesters.
GETCo
Free your mind and your cash flow will follow. GETCo or Good Earth Trading Company was the first mega-corporation established with the sole purpose of interplanetary commerce in 2034. Competing with InfintiCorp for market domination. Trying to acquire the technology behind the gates which currently InfintiCorp has monopoly over and therefor has a firm grip on the galaxy trade.
Glenn Commission
The Glenn Commission is the neutral government of Beta Hydri, created by the Gate Treaty of 2298. Governed by members of all three races, it is a social experiment, promoting science, tourism, and exploration within its borders. After the brutal Gate war there was need for some kind of agreement among the 3 races. In 2303 the Glenn Commission was formed as a neutral government body in Beta Hydri following the Glenn Treaty.
Hyperia
Originally backed by GETCo, the Hyperia Corp has two mandates in its charter. First, to colonize a new system in order to give GETCo a foothold against InfinitiCorp. Second, to create an explorer class within Terran Society. Hyperia is free of the pseudo-religious overtones of the Sha'ha'dem, and the obsessions and ethical quandaries of the Sabine. These terran Explorers are lead by Loric de Grey.
InfintiCorp
InfinitiCorp embodies the Terran ideal: pure mercantilism. InfinitiCorp is in constant struggle with its eternal rival, GETCo, in defining the direction of the Terran sphere. Led by the beautiful Lady Isabel deWinter, InfinitiCorp will stop at nothing to control all trade and manufacturing in all of human space. Getting much of its power from the technology behind the InfintiGates.
Kokura
Guardians of the sky. Defenders of Sirius space, they are trying to keep Swooping Eagle safe from the V'rix. Their leader is Grey Feather.
Mordana
The One True Path and the One True Way. A Jenquai extreme cult which wants to bring back their killed leader Mordane, which died in the Gate Wars. Current leader is Daniel Malhouse.
Net-7
Net-7 is the largest and most influential News and Information agency in the Galaxy. They are always first to break stories, they always get the juicy information before their lesser competitors, and are on top in that cutthroat industry, and showing no signs of weakness. They want to be neutral to all so they can keep their news accurate and not biased by any faction influence.
Psionics
InfinitiCorp maintains that the Psis were created by IC scientists for their talents in mining dangerous materials. The Psionics have no idea how they happened, and don't really care. They DO know they are enslaved in the mines of Cygni by InfinitiCorp because of IC's fears about their paranormal abilities. Their current leader is P3889.
Red Dragons
Ruthless, brilliantly organized, and expanding, the Red Dragon tongs are the most effective criminal organization in human space. Fierce discipline and enduring commitment to the group have made the Red Dragon pirates a particularly formidable threat. Currently lead by Shou Tzu.
Sabine
The Sabine are masters of genetic science and keepers of Progen immortality. They divide themselves into three major classes: the Versatiles, the Specialists, and the Reclaimers. To a Sabine, perfection can and will be achieved through science. The Progen Explorers strives for humankind perfection and survival and are lead by Vinda.
Sha'ha'dem
The Sha'ha'dem are the heart and soul of Jenquai society. These scholars, researchers, thinkers, and explorer monks are the most influential voice in the Jenquai government. Sha'ha'dem, the explorers of the Jenquai, are lead by Merjan Kathrada.
Sharim
Due to recent events, the Sha'ha'dem have seen fit to build a caste of traders to combat the constant theft of Ancient Artifacts from the Aragoth System. The Sharim are charged with recovery of these artifacts, which are holy relics, and should not be handled and sold by the likes of InfinitiCorp and the Red Dragon. These traders among the Jenquai are lead by the charismatic Ariad, which strives for understanding and knowledge revealing her Sha'ha'dem origin.
Shinwa
Formed in the aftermath of the Gate War, the Shinwa are the tireless defenders of the Jenquai nation. They value discipline, duty, and selflessness. Though they are few, they are masters in the art of combat. The Shinwa is the warrior class in Jenquai society and lead by Du'Shao Silva.
V'rix
S2RV1NTS4FTH21NC32NTS. Wants to force all humans away from the ancient gates. Both by using warfare and by using humans own perception of what is frightening (taking forms of large insects and names from the human history of Aztec indians). Their "leader" (v'rix race don't have leaders in the way we know it) is TEZCATLIPOCA.
