Tuesday, 10th of November 1998 - Beautiful WYB and new Sony site. Millions of people Emailed me about the newly updated Sony site for Mariah, and brand new design for the #1's album. Check it out at www.mcarey.com! It's da bomb and they have lyrics and sounds to the new songs!! Also they had another cover of the WYB single, it's terribly stunningly beautiful!!! 
News from Sony Australia is sent to me by Bernard who says they list the When You Believe single to be out November 23 down there. I expect a similar date for Europe. For Asia I don't know, but Michael from Thailand tells me his mom saw it in a store today, but she didn't buy it! So that's unconfirmed for now. |

Tuesday, 10th of November 1998 - Cool competition! JP sends me this: ===================== As I was flipping through radio stations last weekend (99.1 KGGI), I heard something about Mariah. They said that the weekend was called "Mariah Carey Weekend," they gave out Mariah's "#1's" cd to people who called in and was caller 29. The winners of that were then entered in a drawing where one of them will get to HANG OUT WITH MARIAH for TWO NIGHTS!! Airfare and Hotel included. They announced the this morning, around 7:10. Unfortuanlly, I never won. But the funny thing is it was all woman who won. Strange! ==================== As I told JP, I think Mariah asks that only girls win, she doesn't want some guy drooling over her I guess.... *sob* =) Speaking of competition, I heard that they've selected the FANatic who will get to interview Mariah on TV. It was a girl(!) who won, and she's from England. But I'm not sure about that yet. |

Bernard sent me this, from an interview with singer Jennifer Paige. ==================== Her self titled album, out this month on Shock, concerns itself mostly with smooth R&B smoochers such as "Get To Me" and "Just To Have You" and ballads like "Always You", "Let It Rain" and "Between You And Me" which surge into Mariah/Whitney territory. The most asked question of Jennifer is, if she minds the Mariah Carey comparisons.

Monday, 9th of November 1998 - More about the pope. Jamie from Mexico tells me this: ===================== I just read out what Jamie (not me) from Colombia told you about the Pope and the poems. Well, yesterday night I was watching T.V. and I heard this note about some poems (as I understood) written by the Pope himself, were about to be sung by 3 international stars. They mentioned Ricky Martin... yes, because he's latin. I didn't heard anything about Mariah, I am not telling the other Jamie is wrong, is just that I didn't pay so much attention to the note. Monday, 9th of November 1998 - Mariah webchat confusion. Mariah is supposed to be on the Internet tomorrow on the 10th. I'm not exactly new to the net, and I'm still not even sure how it will work out, but here is what I've figured out so far: 1. On the official Mariah site www.mcarey.com it says that it's on 9.30 at night Eastern Time(New York time) and to check chat.yahoo.com 2. At chat.yahoo.com you need to register for an account, I did that and then I checked out the event calendar to see about Mariah's chat. 3. I find Mariah, and it says I need the Realplayer at www.realaudio.com to listen and see the chat. Also that I should go to Sonicnet too because they're involved. 4. At Sonicnet it says I need to download a plugin called iChat to be in the chat, but on the Yahoo site it says all I need is a web browser that can handle Java... |

Sunday, 8th of November 1998 - Mariah, Adam Sandler. Although his humour is very childish, I must say that Adam Sandler is one of my favourite comedians. Eric writes me this story about a TV program yesterday, when he talked about Mariah: ======================== The adam sandler thing called adam sandler's last laugh was basically a movie special for the movie the waterboy. Anyway the special was about the plot of the movie. A kid who goes from being a waterboy(dork) to a huge football star where everyone likes him. So they were playting different videos and they played Honey and they were saying how Mariah changed to get where she is now and they showed a high school picture of Mariah (obviously to prove it). I think that Adam and Mariah are good friends because he invited her to the premiere which means they are friends or he likes her. ======================== I hope they are! The connection Mariah/Adam as I see it is that the producer for Mariah's 00 Soul movie has produced many of Adams movies, like The Wedding Singer. |

Sunday, 8th of November 1998 - Movie survey. The question was: This is an unusual survey. Imagine a huge movie theater with a big, big screen and great stereo sound system. Then all of Mariah's videos (about 40), her NBC special, MSG special, the two Tokyo concerts and the MTV Unplugged concert playing, would take about 10 hours. Would you pay 100 dollars to experience it? It would really be a dream come true for me, seeing Mariah on a big screen. I think I made an unfair questions in my survey because lots of people doesn't have $100 to spare. I should have asked something like "would you do the dishes at home for a whole month" or something! (I would definitly, because I do it anyway without getting to see Mariah in a cinema!) Anyway, 86 out of 134 people would pay $100! Saturday, 7th of November 1998 - Billboard airplay. I just heard When You Believe debuted #51 on Billboard hot 100 airplay, I thought that was kinda low, becuase I clearly remember that Madonna's song Erotica debuted at #2 or something a few years ago. But clearly the rules have changed since then. The Alanis Morrissette song Thank U debuted at #43 on this chart, and then moved to #11 the week after. It's at #3 now. The reason WYB debuted lower than Thank U, although it was the "most added song in history", is probably because R&B radio does not count in the Hot 100 Airplay. It's much, much easier for "rock" kind of songs to be high on this chart, #1 this week is Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls, for the 15th week in a row. |

Wednesday, 11th of November 1998 - This is how much I love Mariah!
I love her so much that I woke up 2 AM in the
morning, took my bike the 5 miles to school
in a snowstorm. Made up 50 questions to
ask her, and waited for the Mariah internet
chat to start!! Here is what I thought of it: 1. COOL!!! The video was da bomb, seeing Mariah talk and replying to questions for a whole hour!!! She should do this once a week!! Actually this was the best thing I've ever seen on the Internet. 2. A bit less cool! She didn't reply to any of my 50 questions, I can't understand why because they were so great, questions like "Please say wazzap to Anderz?", "If the movie 00 Soul is a success, will you be in 01 Soul, the sequel?", "What is your favourite song right now?", "What did you dress up as for Haloween this year?", "What do you think about the idea of a rap/R&B remix album of your songs?" And on and on.... did anyone else get a question answered? 3. Even less cool!!! I couldn't record the video! But I knew that so I recorded the sound instead, it cut off in the middle, but at least I got about 50 minutes of it - and made some MP3's of course!

This is an add from Taiwan sent to me by Ojay. I
asked him who'll sell the best in Taiwan of Mariah, Whitney
and Celine and he replied by giving me some salefigures
for their albums. In Taiwan Mariah's Music Box sold almost 820,000 units and
Daydream sold 400,000 units. Celine's Let's Talk About Love sold almost 1,000,000
units. Whitney's Bodyguard sold 600,000 units. I don't know how much Butterfly
sold, but it seems like Celine is the most popular at the moment
