All this without being neither a naval officer nor a former intelligence officer. Thomas L. Clancy, Jr. was born the 12th of April 1947. He is married and lives in Maryland, USA. He sat down and wrote. After President Ronald Reagan said it was "the perfect yarn" and "non-put-downable" the book became a bestseller. Since then he has been the Master of Techno Thrillers. He followed up with Red Storm Rising, which dealt with the possibility of a third world war, Patriot Games, were Jack Ryan is hunted by IRA-terrorists, The Cardinal of the Kremlin, a spy novel, Clear and Present Danger, witch dealt with the drug problems, The Sum of All Fears, a new kind of terrorism, Without Remorse, how Mr. Clark became what he is, Debt of Honor, a war between the US and Japan and Executive Orders which has Jack Ryan as president. He has also written the OP-series and some nonfiction books. Allmost everyone of his books has been the Times number one bestseller. Clear and Present Danger was relesed in August 1989 and on four months it became the eighties most sold book. He insists that his technical knowledge comes from publicly available sources and that he has never breached government security in any of his books.He is regularly welcomed aboard jets, submarines, and destroyers. Admirals and Generals give him access, Pentagon officials debrief him, and many of his books are required reading at the US's war colleges.
