As you may now Micke from the ByeRodders dragracingteam
have been signed up to the F.I.A. 1998, 1999, 2000
Totalmek ProStock champions team of Jonas Larsson.

Andersson to race in USA.
3rd March: FIA European Pro Stock Champion, Sweden's
Niclas Andersson, is to take part in two NHRA races
in the USA in March, driving Lennart Bergkvist's
Olds Cutlass in Comp Eliminator. The first race is a
Divisional event in Orlando next weekend,
to be followed by the Gatornationals at Gainesville.

FIA European Finals - What a race!
The 2000 FIA European season ended on a high note with
proberly the best race of the year.
FIA Top Fuel:
Only 4 points separated Anita Mäkelä and Barry Sheavills
before the final, and after a troubled qualifying for both,
they had to meet each other in round 1!
Sheavills blew away his last chance by redlighting and handing
the FIA Top Fuel Championship to Anita Mäkelä from Finland.
Low qualifyer was Tommy Möller from Sweden who has taken
possesion of Peter Lantz Top Fuel operation and earned his
licence last weekend. He took the number one spot in 5,16 sec.
He made it to the final which he also won with low E.T. of
the meet with 5,14 sec.
FIA Top Methanol Dragster:
Eero Kilpeläinen had a huge pointslead before the final
and things should go very wrong if he wasn´t to grab the Championship.
His arch rival Jarmo Roivas had to win the event and setting low E.T.
and Top Speed of the meet AND Kilpeläinen had to loose in round 1.
When Roivas took pole position in qualifying (5,68 sec.) and
Kilpeläinen lost in round 1, the Championship suddently
was an open matter again. Luckely for Kilpeläinen Roivas lost
in the semifinal and gave the FIA Top Methanol Dragster
Championship 2000 to Eero Kilpeläinen from Finland.
FIA Top Methanol Funny Car:
Leif Andreasson from Sweden could secure the FIA
Top Methanol Funny Car Championship 2000 by
winning round 1 - and that´s exactly what he did.
He also made it to the final where he lost to
Mikael Kågered - last years Champion.
FIA Pro Stock:
In Pro Stock Niclas Andersson had a 12 points lead to
Michael Malmgren before the final.
The two swedes met in the semifinal.
Malmgren ran 7,10 sec and Andersson 7,20 sec
BUT Andersson crossed the finishline first
- a real holeshot win secured Niclas Andersson
from Sweden the FIA Pro Stock Championship 2000.

Friday
The first day of qualifying at Semcon Drag Finals
was filled with excitement! The "carbonfiber Volvo PV
from Sören Andersson took the most applauds when he made a 7,94.
That took the turbo-engined car to pole position, 0,65 under index.
Anders Erlandsson that ran faster than anyone ever did before in
B Dragster making him second qualifier.

FIA, FIM, NDRS and Norwegian Championship race at Gardermoen was disrupted
and eventually curtailed by a huge oildown and then a collision between
the Pro Stocks of Jacob Ferrer and Kjetil Hauge.
Both drivers are OK but the same can't be said for their cars.
Ake Persson was similarly unhurt in a high-speed crash in his
Nova Pro Mod on Saturday.
The matter of points in the FIA European Championship
for this event is still under investigation
due to the unusual circumstances.

Talked to Jonas Larsson, Crewchief of the F.I.A. 1999 Champion
Totalmek Pro Stock Firebird, and he said that the track
could handle some 7.0 tomorrow.
He also said that they are a little lack of horsepower so dont
count them to be number one qualifyers.
At this point they are #4 qualifyed.
Tomorrow is another day expect to see them in some 7.08 times.
Maybe the AC-delo team of Malmgren will qualify in the number one
spot in something like 7.04

More than 250 competitors from 10 different countries
travelled to Mantorp Park for this years Sko Uno Drag Festival.
The event was round three of the FIA/FIM European Championship
and round 10 of The Nordic Drag Racing Series.
It had been raining almost two full weeks prior to the race
but Friday was dry, and Saturday and Sunday turned out to
be two wonderful days of summer with clear blue sky.
The track was in pretty bad shape on Friday
but the traction improved during the weekend.

Talked to Lasse Boden Crew chief of the Totalmek Pro Stocker
the other day.
About the disqualifying for messing up with the weightlimit it was
some -33 lb light.
But they carry their own scales and they read OK.
Told me that Konola had picked up some 100+ horsepower during the
winter so that his pace in England wasn´t that big a suprise.
Niclas Andersson driver of the Totalmek Pro Stocker said
that the redligt against Malmgren was forced by rolling the car
forward when revving up at start.
But Boden thought it didn´t. Maybe backwards he said with a grin
on his face.
Anyway the engine "Helga" is loaded on the pickuptruck of
Boden waiting for a ride to JAMS for a major dynosession.
Bet they dont´t want to be beat that bad in
Finland next weekend.

Pro Stock final:
And yet another European record for Malmgren Racing
as Michael Malmgren takes the win in 6.990 at 196.45 mph.
It was all over by half-track,
Jari got slightly out of shape and then backed out of
it to 9.92/89.21 whilst we were all watching Michael.
First in the sixes in Europe.

Top Methanol Funny Car final:
Leif Andreasson took the win from
Leif Helander in a real peach of a race,
the cars side by side all the way down the track.
Leif Andreasson edged it at the top end, 5.87/245.38
to 5.93/235.78.
Congratulations to Leif and his crew.
But also a nice run by Helander snitching
the second place from Kagered in the Swedish ET toplist.

NO racing in Pro Stock and TAFC Sunday due to rain.
Phill Cook put in a great run in his new Junior Dragster,
one of the quickest runs in Europe at 8.66 but not the
fastes as you can see in my Swedish recordpage.

Talked to Jonas. Team-owner of Totalmek Pro Stock Racingteam
friday evening, OK ;) Night!
Told me that Jari Konola run 7.09 whith his #1 plant in pre
race testing.
Ferrer made some 7.11 test runs.

Quotes from pressday at Santa Pod:
Michael Malmgren has also put in a pass, "He will stay on it
as long as he feels comfortable", his crew said. Well,
Michael must have felt comfortable all the way down the track,
a great run, straight as you like,
7.09/194.40.
Jari Konola and Jacob Ferrer lined up for a Pro Stock duel.
Both pulled huge burnouts, Konola staying on it to
one hundred feet or so.
On the green Konola went a few feet and then shook so bad
that you couldn't read the decals on the car,
and he backed out to a 13.15/63.66.
Meanwhile Jacob Ferrer had disappeared into the distance
with a solid pass of
7.12/194.29.
Here's Jari Konola again...a fine burnout,
about seventy feet this time...superb launch
and really accelerating towards the top end...
7.10/194.38. Excellent pass.
Michael Malmgren was next up from the Pro Stock ranks,
Crew Chief Christer said that the team had
backed the clutch down a little and made some
other changes. Some frantic action to adjust the
wheelie bars before staging and then Michael was off
to a corking
7.06/195.16, superb pass.
Another nice run from Jacob Ferrer,
the customary big burnout followed by a nice straight
7.11/194.51.
Jacob Ferrer put in another pass,
7.14/191.61, the chutes out a touch early.

This weekend sees two test sessions at Santa Pod Raceway.
On Saturday a private test will be taking place, with a small
number of Pro racers in action. This test session is
unfortunately closed to the public. But in Pro Stock Ferrer,
Malmgren and Konola are in the 7.0´s with a speed of 194 195
something.
