The Nürburgring has a long history dating back to the
early 1920's. Created as part of a labor-creating project, the first race was held in June
1927. For many years the Nürburgring was home of the German Grand Prix -'Grosser Preis
von Deutschland'. It finally came to an end as a Grand Prix circuit in 1976 when Niki
Lauda almost lost his life in a accident at Bergwerk.
