CyberWiz's recommended software for playing and making modules

Mod4Win

Mod4Win is a good player if you have got enough CPU-power(preferably a Pentium). It runs under Windows(3.11 or '95) and can play in the background when you are doing something else in Windows. It can handle most formats and it has got a user-friendly look. The latest version is 2.30. Mod4Win is shareware, so if you don't enjoy nag-screens then you should download the crack for it(this is illegal, but who cares?).

WinZip

Almost all modules you ever see on the web have been compressed. The most usual form of compression is Zip. To uncompress and compress Zip-archives you need a program, and WinZip is definitly the easiest one to handle. I recommend PkZip and PkunZip for the more advanced users(DOS-based)

Fasttracker

Fasttracker 2(Ft2) is, in my opionion, the best tracker around. It can do almost anything and isn't very hard to learn, even for a beginner. Ft2 is a DOS-program and you can run it from Windows'95 but it won't play in the background. Ft2 is shareware but there are no limitations in the unregistered version so you don't have to pay for it or crack it.
