Nice effort by Avs, with some exceptions.
March 29th

Colorado ended Anaheimīs road streak, when they won, 5-3. Colorado played without the franchise players, Peter Forsberg and Joe Sakic. Tom Fitzgerald had two goals, one in penalty killing, after a magnificent wrist shot. His First goal was a strange backhand, after very hard forechecking in Anahaimīs zone by Claude Lemieux and Valeri Kamensky. The other goals were made by Uwe Krupp and Adam Deadmarsh, who scored twice.

But the thing which will be remembered from this game is without hesitating Ozolinsh goal in the own net.
Referee Devorski called for a penalty, and Roy left the goal for an extra attacker, and Ozolinsh got the puck, and passed it in the own net...
It was pretty funny to see, especially since Avs also had an other goal in the own net, when Fitzgerald redirected a puck from the former Avalanche, Josef Marha.

Then I have to say something about the netminder Roy.
I canīt understand why he leaves the goal all the time, just for stoping the puck. I will probarly get a heart attack if I keep following the Avs, just for Roy.
He MUST get better, otherwise.....

Itīs now time for a roadtrip, with a couple of games and among them, a game at Detroit. GO AVS!

Avs prepare for the playoffs.
March 25th

The Colorado Avalanche picked on the trading deadline day up Tom Fitzgerald from the Florida Panthers for Mark Parrish and a third round pick in this yearīs draft. We also got Warren Rychel back from the mighty ducks of Anaheim for Josef Marha.
Warren was a member of the team 95/96, when Colorado won the Stanley Cup, and the time will show if he was the missing piece last year, when we were outplayed by the Red Wings.

Excellent power-play by the Avs.
March 8th

The Colorado Avalanche got revenge after the loss against the Ottawa Senators, after 4-2 against the N.Y Islanders. Avs scored four goals in power play, and it was especially Ozolinzh and Forsberg who showed the way. Sandis had one goal and three assists, and the swedish hero had one goal and two assists. Valeri Kamensky and Keith Jones also scored for the Avs. Patrick Roy had a good game, but showed unfortunatley some unsportsmanlike conduct, after a penalty shot. Next game is on monday, at Denver against the "top" team Tampa Bay Lightnings.

Avs won without six olympic players.
February 26th

Keith Jones played his first game of the season, when the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Phoenix Coyotes. Peter Forsberg and Sandis Ozolinsh had two points. Claude Lemieux and Uwe Krupp also scored for the Avs, who extended their winning streak to four games. Colorado played without the olympic players Patrick Roy, Adam Foote, Alexei Gusarov, Valeri Kamensky, Jari Kurri and Joe Sakic, who is injuried for about four weeks. Next game is tonight against Phoenix again, but now at Denver.

Forsberg & Sakic very good in Vancouver.
December 14th

Peter Forsberg and Joe Sakic had three points each, as the Colorado Avalanche defeated Vancouver, 5-2. Avs won the first period with 4-1, after two goals by Forsberg, one by Ozolinsh and one by Yelle. Especially "Yellieīs" goal was very nice:

He got a high pass by Krupp, and hit the puck perfect. Goalie McLean didnīt have a chance.

The Canadien Road Trip is now over, and I donīt consider it as good, after two losses, one tied and one victory.

But Avalanche coach, Crawford was as usuall pretty positive:

"It's been a tough stretch, coast-to-coast. I mean this is our third game in four nights so it's good to get a win," said Avalanche coach Marc Crawford. "If we can keep producing and fighting through our schedule, it'll pay off when it's lighter."

Well, next game is at Denver, against the Maple Leafs, and we hope that we can get revenge for the tied game last week, when they outplayed us, and Roy was magnificent.

RUMORS: Rod Brind 'Amour to Avalanche ??
December 11th

A Rumor says that Rod Brind 'Amour, center of the Philadelphia Flyers, might be moving to Denver.
In the trade, Alexei Gusarov, a Draft pick and one of the players Marha and Larsen would be sent to Toronto. Then, Toronto would send Felix Potvin to Philadelphia, and the Flyers will send us Brindy. But remember:
JUST RUMORS.

Roy excellent as Avs tied at Toronto.
December 11th

Patrick Roy played magnificent in game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Roy had 51 saves, but it didnīt help the team to a victory, when the rest of the team was thinking of the Hall of Fame or something else.

-"I felt great tonight," said Roy. "I was not tired at all. I had a lot of gas. I felt great, even when I got to the rink and I knew I was going to have a great game. They worked hard. Of course they deserved to win this game. But on the other side, I thought I was unlucky to give up those two goals."

Third Center Stephane Yelle had also a good game, with one goal and one assist. René Corbet also scored for the Avs, his seventh this season.

The Avs-Coach, Marc Crawford was very upset after the game:

-" Most of the team played like they were braindead tonight !

Well, we hope of course that the team will play much better in the next game at Calgary, on Friday.

First loss for Roy against the Canadiens.
December 9th

The Colorado Avalanche had their six game unbeaten streak broke, after a 4-2 loss in Montreal. It was Patrick Roy first loss against the Montreal, ever. He didnīt play as he use to do, and the Canadiens fans booed him:

-"Everybody was happy to see me lose tonight".

Some parts of the Avalanche team played very poor, for example the line with Lemieux-Forsberg-Kamensky. They played -3. Not Good!

But some players stood up, struggled and fought! Sakic had two points, one goal and one assist, Gusarov played +2, and Leroux and Corbet kicked the hell out of Scott Thornton and Darcy Tucker. Some positive things !

Well, not much more to say about the game, next game on the road trip is at Toronto on Wednesday. Toronto beat the Dallas Stars, 3-0, last night, and it will be an exciting game. We hope Avs play better then!

Avs extended their winnig streak to five games.
December 7th

The Colorado Avalanche extended their winning streak to five games, and offset at the same time Pavel Bureīs hattrick. Shean Donovan had a good game, and made his first goal in Avalanche, and had also an assist. Eric "Jr" Lacroix had two goals and there were also other players who got two points this game, both Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg had two assists.

Avalanche Coach, Marc Crawford, used his usuall comment about the game:

-"This was a good performance by our team. A solid effort," Colorado coach Marc Crawford said. "At times they were cheap, but we kept our composure. It was a positive thing for our club. We build on each performance. It seemed like we played a solid 60 minutes."

Have you heard that before ?? I think so......
The three goals I havenīt mentioned yet, was made by Deadmarsh, Kamensky and Gusarov (Empty Net).

Anyway, next for the Avalanche is the canadien roadtrip, which starts monday, with a game at Montreal.

Avs snapped Blackhawks unbeaten streak.
December 5th

The Colorado Avalanche snapped the Blackhwaks four-game unbeaten streak, 2-1, after a goal by Deadmarsh with 4:10 remaining of the game. Sakic went after a loose puck in the right corner of the Chicago zone, spun and flipped a backhand pass to Deadmarsh, who put a wrist shot by the Hawks goaltender from the slot. And it wasnīt so unexpectable, because four of "Deaderīs" goals this season have been game-winners. Patrick Roy was excellent in the net, and made 29 saves. Sandis Ozolinsh score the other goal for the Avs, his third of the season. It was also a fight in the game, 2:30 in the second period. Francois Leroux and Cam Russell got five minutes for fighting major. The Fight? Yeah, I donīt know actually, but what of I heard, it was an exciting fight, very quick and with "Frankenstein" as a clear winner, or as one of the fans said:

-"I am surprised that Russel came up after those hits".

Try to get your own opinion of that ! For the first time in eight games, Peter Forsberg had no points, but I donīt think he cares as long as the team win.

Next for the Avalanche is the Canucks at Denver, which will be tough, but right now:

Nothing can Stop the Avalanches from Denver.

"Foppaīs" secret paradize.
December 3rd

When Peter Forsberg wants silent and be without the journalists, he goes to Breckenridge in the Rocky Mountain two hours from Denver, with his girlfriend Koli Chapel, 24. -"Itīs so nice and silent here, I need this free time, if I will be able to play the hockey I can".
He doesnīt hide that heīs thinking of the Winter war in Nagano. -"All the best play in the tournament, and we have a great team". Koli says: -"The best thing with Peter is everything", but Peter doesnīt like when people talk about him, he always tries to change topic, she laugh. Peter loves the snow, but unfortunately, heīs not allowed to ski. -"No, itīs a deal in my contract". But Peter get on very well in Colorado, especially since he bought a huge house in the suburb Fenesee. "Foppa" is right now second in league, with 37 points.

-"I am not thinking of the Art Ross Trophy att all, the most important thing is that the team plays well."

Exactly so humble as usuall.........

Avs outshoted Oilers and won, 4-2.
December 3rd

The Avs had no problem with the Edmonton Oilers, and won pretty comfortable, 4-2, which could be more, maybe 6-2. Peter Forsberg continues his great play and had two goals tonight. The whole first line works very good right now with Claude, Peter and Valeri. The reason is maybe that Sandis "Ozo" Ozolinsh is back since a time ago, after missing 13 games. The Avs outshoted Oilers, 41-20, and Patrick Roy made eightteen saves for the Avalanche. Joe Sakic had a nice goal on a shot in power play. Claude Lemieux also scored for the Avs. Adam Foote got seventeen penalty minutes at the same time, but he kicked Jason Arnottīs ass on the ice anyway.
Avs Coach, Marc "Crow" Crawford was satisfied:

-"This was a good performance by our team, a solid effort", "At times, they were cheap but we kept our composure. It was a positive thing for our club. We build on each performance. It seemed like we played a solid 60 minutes."

No Doubt about that. Oilers Coach, Ron Low, had his own reason why they lost:

-"They have a great club and we have an inexperienced club." "We worked our asses off. I can question our smarts at times."

Anyway, next game is at Chicago, and the Hawks have played better and better, so it will be exciting to see that game.

Avs beat Hurricanes, 3-2.
November 30th

The Avs ended the roadtrip with a victory against the Carolina Hurricanes, 3-2, as yesterday. But it was actually a different between the games. In this game, Carolina led after two periods, 2-0, and Avs played very poor. But "Crow" and the guys played much better in the last period, and got what they deserved, three goals. The goals was made by Ozolinsh, Krupp and Deadmarsh. Peter Forsberg played as usuall very good, but he had "only" two assists in this game. The Florida trip must be consider as pretty good, because the Avs took five of six possible points. The next roadtrip stars December 8th, a real tough canadien tour. But first, the team will go home for a couple of days.

Avs defeat Panthers, 3-2.
November 29th

The Avs seems to do well against the Panthers. One and a half year ago, the Avs blanked Panthers in four games in the Stanley Cup Final. Last night, the Avs recorded a new victory, 3-2. Valeri Kamensky scored twice and Joe Sakic scored Avs last goal. But the best player was probarly the swedish pearl, Peter Forsberg. He recorded three assists and did a couple of amazing things. Even Panthers goalie, Mark Fitzpatrick could agree:

-Peter Forsberg was outstanding, I think heīs the best player in the NHL.

Patrick Roy was also satisfied with the game:

-"We did what we had to do. We played solid in our end," he said. "We knew going into the game that they work really hard, but we got the two points and that's what matters."

Next game is tomorrow at Carolina. Hopefully a new victory!
