Ericsson handsets

Sweden was one of the first countries where the handset was commonly used.   Ericsson started making handsets in the 1880's, but during the first years they were only used on switchboards. In 1892 the first Ericsson-model with handset, made for subscribers, was introduced. It was the well known "Eiffeltower".

Handsets were made in many different models.  The looks of the handset can be used to date an Ericsson phone. To the left you can see some of the main types and the year of introduction.
