The Lugnet Institute for Sport Science
LIVI is a foundation established 1988 by Falu Council, County Council of Dalarna and Dalarna University. The main tasks for LIVI are:
* To provide education and
information about sport,
exercise and health care to athletes and recreational
athletes. To be involved in sports-related education
at Dalarna University.
* To offer physiological performance tests
* To manage research in sports
medicine and
healthcare.
* To provide medical service to
athletes with
sports related injuries.
LIVI is a place both for elite athletes and recreational athletes. LIVI can through different kinds of physiological performance tests give qualified advice on how to improve the athletes sporting ability.
LIVI also work with health care, which includes education, healthcare advice, fitness tests etc. The education is given as lectures, seminars and courses to companies, athletic clubs and other organisations. Covered topics are health, health care, exercise, diet, stress management, antidotal treatment for smokers and management of sports-related injuries.
The medical service is run by orthopaedic doctors who have specialised in sports-related injuries. The medical service also includes a physiotherapist.
LIVI has a well equipped test
laboratory with equipments for both strength and endurance
tests.
In the test laboratory oxidative capacity can be measured while
athletes are cycling, rollerblading, cross country skiing or
running.
