By Joppe I met the drummer Jakob on a Hypocrisy-concert in Lidingö at the 27th of April 1996. We decided to start a band and just a few days later we had a rehearsal studio. I asked my friend, guitarplayer Henrik Snickars in our band of that time, Megadon, if he wanted to join the new project. He did! We now needed a bassplayer and found Stefan by advertising by a note in a recordshop. Now we were a band! But not for long. Jakob had to take some time off due to some stupid things he had done, so we had to replace him. Our then relatively new bassplayer Stefan found drummer Ted and guitarplayer Erik at the Stockholm Water Festival. They played with us for some time, but we kicked them because they sadly did not fit into the band. But Stefan did it again. He found guitarplayer Daniel and drummer Michael. Yahooo, a complete band again! These two metalheads did not just become Sadauk-members, they are good enough to be called friends! Daniel made some good music in a short time, while we were playing covers by Moonspell, Tiamat and some Black Sabbath. Just weeks after, in January 1997 Stefan asked Emma to play the keyboard, he previously knew her sister Anna. Well, of course she wanted to play with us. Now my ideas of singing "dirty" lyrics suddenly vanished. We managed to compose some songs and played live, but without me(!) for the first time. The 3rd and 4th of June 1997 we recorded the demo Theatre of War. We had decided to do the demo recordings in Falun, but just days before, someone stole the studio equipment!!! After a quick reorganizing, we found another studio in Stockholm, where finally, the demo was recorded. After the Summer Daniel went to Boden to do his Military service, and Michael went to study in the USA. The band drowsed for a while, but a friend of mine, Emil, who is a very good guitarplayer, learned our songs and we played live a second time, with Daniel (on leave from his Military duty) on drums. In March 1998 Daniel was demobbed but we still needed a drummer for some gigs. Unfortunatly we had to cancel two of them, but another friend of mine, Patrik, played with us on one gig. He also helped us writing a new song. In June we finaly got Michael back. And now we got a rehearsal studio of our own. We bought some equipment and thanks to the musicstore Förstärkardoktorn, we got it really cheap! We played live in July, now without Emma, in Eskilstuna at a Punkgig. After that we started repeating for the second demo, Tears of the Sun. About the lyrics The first song of Sadauk were Divided Soul. My idea for this song was to sing with several different voices. So I created a schizofrenic person who needed to become healthy. But it also brings up that it is not only sick persons who are crazy; everybody are!!! The second song, the first part of the planned trilogy A New Dawn, is the fantasysong Melhínis Death. It was harder to write. The English parts just took an hour or so, but Sindarin and especially Blackspeech were harder. I studied for weeks! I think the result was worth it! As They Sleep Behind The Horizon, were written by Stefan. Five times or so! I was hard to please. The final text just includes parts of the intro and the first part of the chorus from the first version! But now it is good, isn't it? The music to Theatre Of War, the demointro, were quite different before entering the studio, with guitars and stuff! Now it's almost just my voice left. The lyric is made to bind the tree songs together. I used old words from the songs and some new and there you are. I had never heard Return To Tranquillity, the outro, before it was recorded, because Daniel plays it all, and he is not good enough to play two guitars at the same time. It contains no lyric, but I think the title fits to the music. After so much metal you might have to calm down, as after a war. The mini-CD, Tears Of The Sun, is planned to include four songs. The titletrack tells you what we think will happen when the Sun starts crying - and it's our fault! The Cry Of A Dying Bird tells you what I think about humans destroying nature. Once I saw an idiot driving right through a flock of birds. Dying birds sprayed the road with feathers and blood. I can still hear their dying cries... The second part of A New Dawn is called Cursed Land. I stole words from five of Henrik's old lyrics and some of mine and used it in the story of Atardils struggle against evil. As with the first part there are connections to real world. The Enchanters Estrangement Of A Flower is Stefan longing back to forgotten times. This time his writing was accepted at the once. He has learned! |
