Services
on the new accompli!

NYTT / HÅRDVARA
The future of the mobile Internet is rich media services,
i.e. services that combine text, audio, pictures, animations,
and video. Consumers demand rich media, which is evidenced
by the fact that the Internet became attractive to a mass
audience when web-browsers |
that could display pictures appeared. More
recently, applications like animated greetings and MP3 music have
become a success with consumers. Operators depend on rich media
to justify their investments in 3G networks. Only rich media has
the potential to generate the amount of traffic that can make 3G
investments profitable. However, delivering rich media to mobile
terminals presents two unique challenges:
First, the browser paradigm is poorly suited for navigating content
on a mobile device. The screen and keyboard are too limited for
effectively using navigation based on hyperlinks.
Second, the distribution itself is difficult as the radio access
implies relatively low and always varying bandwidth.
MediaBricks has developed a unique, patent pending, technology
for creating rich media services that addresses the challenges
with navigation and distribution. With MediaBricks, the mobile
terminal acts as a media player, similar to a portable music player.
Content is organized in a bundle that has a structure so that
the user can navigate by pushing a few buttons. The content is
downloaded to the mobile terminal using the MediaBricks patent
pending "intelligent download" distribution method which
creates a very efficient use of the radio network and provides
high quality of service to the end-user.
