As the two friends reached the bottom of the stairs they split up and turned toward their respective classes, they threw each other a short wave and kept walking in opposite directions. The corridors were ominously quiet as Mieko made her way to her arithmetic class, deep in thought she quickly raised her head to make sure she was still on her path when she was startled to see Michael standing in the distance.
He started to walk towards her when she turned her back on him, "just listen to me for a minute, I need to explain something", shouted Michael as he briskly walked over to Mieko. With her back still turned away from him she said, "explain what! Michael, know one has ever hit me before", "but you were acting hysterically and I needed to tell you something important that my father made me do!".
