FFVIII should come out in Japan in December. And in the rest of
the world at the start of 1999.
They say that FFVIII shall be 5 CD:s or more.
Squall Leonhart is the name of the main character. Laguna Loire is another character.
There should be 2 more characters: Zell and Lenore but we don't know anything about them
now.
Nubuo has expressed an 'interest' that he wishes to come back and do the soundtrack FFVIII. This is where this rumor has stemmed from, the fact that he is 'interested'.
Number of players
A rumor has been said that FF8 might be able to play 2 players. But this is only a rumor
Comebacks from FF7
Red XIII and Cid might come back in FF8. Although Cid might not be the good old Cid from FF7. I'm not sure whether Cid is an entirely new character or the old one.
Main Villain
The main villain might be an organism that was living inside of Sephiroth.
The Number of CD's
Well, the estimated range if CD's is 4-5. But right now the most realistic guess is 4.
New Magic System
NO MORE MATERIA!!! Yes, it is being said that Materia, the extremely effective magic system in FFVII is being scrapped for FFVIII for way of a new magic system.
Party Members
It is being said that instead of 3, you will have 4 members in your party.
Location of game
It is said that FF8 might be in another time and another universe, but this is highly unlikely.
Monster Breeding
This will be just like Chocobo Breeding, except you might be able to use them in battle.
A Gold Saucer Type Structure
A similar structure like the Gold Saucer is said to be in FF8. It will have all that gambling and the new Sky Diving and Chocobo Shooting.
