How to play from the sand in LinksLS 99.

In LinksLS 98 all you had to do to make sure you hit a good shot out of a bunker was to hit the snap correctly. The distance the ball would travel was just a little bit shorter than it would be if you hit it from the fairway. In the 99 version of Links however bunkerplay has been remodelled, and now you have two diffent shots to choose from. The first is mainly for short shots from a greenside trap, and the second is for longer shots from fairway traps. To illustrate this, I've hit two different shots from the same lie in a greenside trap. The lie was flat, and the pin was four foot above the ball.

As you can see, a full swing with a perfect snap, and still the shot travelled only about 25 yards. This is due to the fact that as in real golf you have hit down in the sand 1-2 inches behind the ball, sending it in a high trajectory.

This shot was played more like the way you would play from a fairway trap, and as you can see, a shorter swing hitting more at the ball, using the second snapmark, the ball will travel in a lower trajectory, but further.

Both shots were played using a sandwedge with default loft.

It will be interesting to see the charts for this kind of shots...
