Activities

The Project Young People Embellish the City started on April 18th with a paint workshop at Lund, Stortorget and continued on April 21st, in Norra Fäladen, a part of Lund with a very multicultural population.

The next workshop, this time collage took place again at Stortorget on April 25th.

Circusvagnen represented Lund at a Nordic Culture Week held in Greifswald, East Germany, May 8th and 9th, which explains the break in May.

Activities restarted on May 30th when children and youngsters at Stortorget were encouraged to create their own mobiles reflecting upon colour, form and space in the city.

This workshop was dedicated to Alexander Calder who would have celebrated his 100 birthday this year.

A similar workshop is going to be held later this year at the site of a Calder tin-plate sculpture in the North part of Lund town.

The 27th of June a Workshop was held in Värpinge. Small boats was constructed with textile, wood and colours.

Coming activities
Unless otherwise specified all workshops are held at Stortorget, on Saturdays between 11.00 and 15.00.

During one week in July activities will be offered to a number of children care centres.

During July and August we will construct carts needed for the autumn activities. A workshop on the island of Ven is also on the agenda, as well as some neighbourhood events.

About light on Sept 5th, making lanterns.

On Sept 12th we make sounding instruments out of clay, bamboo, calebases, etc

On Sept 19th a nocturnal light-play at Lundagård. Lanternmakers and luthiers are invited.

The whole project will come to a close between Oct 14th and 17th at the City Council Hall, Stadshallen, under the direction of two uruguayan art-teachers. The Town Hall will then be decorated with creations from all different workshops. The young artists may now pick up their creations to bring them home.

Workshops Oct 14th and 15th: graphic representation of the city miljeu with the help of cartoons-comics.

Workshops Oct 16th and 17th: lectures for young aesthetics, educationists and everybody who has an interest in colour. Colour interaction, contrast, huances, temperature, distance, primary and secondary colours, complementary colours, a historical view of the colour palette. A colour-machine is constructed and used in the experiments.
