Lake Stora Ullfjärden

Radiographs of sediment cores.

Stora Ullfjärden is a bay in the northeastern part of lake Mälaren, situated north of and connected with Lake Lilla Ullfjärden by a narrow and shallow passage.

Radiographic comparison between the upper part of cores 321, 322, and 323 from a depth of 20, 22, and 23 m resprectively in the southern part of Lake Stora Ullfjärden.

The distance between the coring stations 321 and 323 amounted to about 850 m. As shown core-to-core correlations, based on X-ray radiographs, improve the possibilities of calculating spatial variations in sedimentation rates. Date of coring: 1978-03-04.

Coring sites 321, 322, and 323 in Stora Ullfjärden.

See further the description of sedimentary structures, based on radiographs of 79 sediment cores from this lake, published by Bodbacka Fältman in 1993 (UNGI Rapport Nr 83).
