Havstensfjorden is situated outside Byfjorden and is separated from Byfjorden by the sill in the narrow sound, Sunninge sund.

1 of 5 X-rayed cores sampled from depths between 25 and 29 m in the northeastern part of Havstensfjorden in 1980-06-26. For the upper 0.2 m of this core the mean wet and dry bulk density amounted to 1.36 and 0.55 respectively.
