Gdansk Bay

Partly overlapping radiographs of core GB from a depth of 107 m in the Gdansk Bay (station no. 169).
Horizontal layers are visible in the uppermost, soft part of this core. At a core depth of about 0.1 m the deposits are considerably deformed. The sharp and somewhat uneven border between the uppermost, softer and the lower, harder deposits at a core depth of about 6 cm indicates an erosion surface and thus a time gap in the sedimentary sequence, as also indicated by the diagram below.
