Some moments in my life.
My first memory that I can recall is a small fringing
that my sister gave me when I was in the hospital, now you might think
that I would turn out to be a fireman, but life isn't that easy to predict,
is it? I was born in Ransäter, a small village in Värmland, and
the day was Christmas eve 1973. To grow up in Ransäter is some what
hard to explain but if you try to imagine a small community where everybody
always have something going on you would be close to the real thing. The
thing is that I think that a small village can offer you a much more interesting
life compared to the city if it just got the right atmosphere, and Ransäter
got plenty of that.
What I do in Uppsala
For the moment I live in the oldest university city in
Sweden, Uppsala. I've been living here for about four years, and studying
math and computer science. I like Uppsala allot. There are some things
worth knowing about my time as a student besides from my fields of studies.
Two years ago some friends and I started a band. It's
members are Thomas Edlund
on bass, Lars Blomgren
on drums, Cammila Wahlin
on guitar, Johan Prytz on keyboard and finally myself, I play the guitar.
And offcorse everybody sing. Since we play mostly own material it is some
what hard to explain our sound, but in time we might get a recording and
publish it on the web.
I also play another instrument, the banjo, in Wijkmanska
Blecket. WB is a famous student orchestra in Uppsala. To get an idea
of how we sound, look and smell you might follow the link to WB's home
page. Next year in springtime we are going on a tour to some European country
and I am supposed to plan this tour together with Anna and Martin. At the
time it looks like we are going to Finland or Great Britain.
Life in Mozambique
Another moment in my life that I could tell you about
is my time in Mozambique. My parents got jobs down there, my father worked
as coordinator and a teacher in a project to improve a technical
senior height school and my mother worked in the Swedish school. When we
moved I was fifteen years old so I started my first year in height school.
We lived in the capital Maputo, it was a city under allot of pressure since
there was a war going on just outside the city limit, hence it was many
refuges settling down in the suburb areas. Though there was a war going
on and Mozambique was on of the poorest country in the world the Mozambicans
had a positive feeling about the future.
Nowadays when the war is over (peace was established 1992)
Mozambique is facing new problems, they need to rebuild there infrastructure,
people in the countryside need education and health service. There is ofcourse
so much more to write about, so I will publish links to interesting pages
covering different areas of Mozambique. If you allow me to go back to my
interesting life I just say I loved my time in Mozambique very much,
I made some very good friends that I unfortunately lost contact with (I
tend to do that). My father still works in Mozambique, this time in Beira
so once every year I got the chance to travel down again.
